Jasmine Cottage offers self-catering holiday accommodation in
the beautiful rural County of Wiltshire, near to the centre of the picturesque
village of Steeple Ashton.
The County Town of Trowbridge is 4 miles away and the World
Heritage City of Bath is 12 miles away. Steeple Ashton has a Post Office, Public
House, Restaurant, Village Shop and Internet Café all just 3 minutes walk away.
The accommodation is an attractive 18th century traditional character Cottage
with exposed beams, that has been sympathetically modernised and decorated. It
can comfortably sleep up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms (2 double & 2 single beds).
Every year, Jasmine Cottage is inspected independently by 'enjoy England' who
have awarded the Cottage a '4 Stars self-catering accommodation' classification.
There are many different and interesting places to visit during your holiday in Wiltshire, including the ancient Cities of Bath, Wells and Salisbury, the splendid Town of Bradford-on-Avon, Stourhead Gardens, prehistoric Stonehenge and Avebury Circle, the quintessential English Village of Castle Combe, the National Trust Village of Lacock, Longleat House and Safari Park, one of the oldest chalk White Horses of England at Westbury and much, much more...
The Cottage is well positioned for exploring further afield; within one hour's drive are the major tourist sites of Bristol, North West Somerset, North Dorset and the Southern Cotswolds. Day trips to London by train are possible from Westbury Station which has 'park-and-ride' facilities and is just four miles away.
Jasmine Cottage has been sympathetically modernised to give
our guests present day comforts while retaining the old world character of the
building.
The Cottage dates from the 18th Century and there are lots of exposed beams and
feature stonework. It has three large bedrooms and sleeps up to six people. It
is comfortably furnished, carpeted and well equipped, and in winter it is heated
throughout. Car parking is available immediately outside at the front of the
property.
Steeple Ashton was one of the most important 'wool-towns' of
the middle ages and from this time remain the exceptionally large Church of St
Mary and many of the old buildings of the Village. We have often won the 'Best
Kept Village Competition'.
There are many footpaths around the Village where you may be greeted by a cheery
'good morning' or 'good afternoon' by the locals. There is a village bus service
to Trowbridge, Devizes and Bath
The Village has a 'lockup' on the Village Green, used in the
past to hold drunks whilst the Policeman was summoned, on his bicycle, from
Trowbridge! Today, the 'lockup' houses the Village Green lawnmower.
Steeple Ashton has a pub that has a superb restaurant, a Village Shop
specialising in local produce, an Internet Café and a Post Office all about
three minutes walking distance from Jasmine Cottage. You will be made most
welcome there by the locals.
Steeple Ashton is ideally placed as a base to visit many of
the prehistoric sites of Wiltshire including the world famous Stonehenge,
Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill, The Wandsdyke, Kennet Longbarrow and the
many White Horses of the County (The nearest one is at Westbury, a ten minute
drive away).
Easily accessible are the ancient and historic cities of Salisbury and Bath,
Stourhead Gardens, the 'biscuit-tin' village of Castle Coombe, the National
Trust village of Laycock, Westonbirt Arboretum, Bradford on Avon, Bowood House,
Great Chalfield Manor, Longleat House with its Maze and Safari Park and much,
much more...
Further afield are Cheddar Gorge, Bristol, the Cotswolds and
the Jurassic Coast of Dorset.
Sports facilities, indoor and out, are available in Trowbridge, Devizes,
Melksham and Swindon (Ice rink).
The world heritage City of Bath, 12 miles distant, has a very good night life
and cultural events of all types.
