Unity Cottage at Valleyview Barn is a self-catering, three bedroom high quality new barn conversion, sleeping up to six    people.   The property benefits from a sympathetic renovation with mostly exposed beams, black riven slate flooring along with under floor heating running throughout the property.

We are situated in the  hamlet of Creegbrawse, less than 1 mile to the picturesque village of  Chacewater. Unity cottage offers tranquil uninterrupted views overlooking the area of outstanding natural beauty Poldice Valley, the villages and hills beyond.  The mineral tramways ‘coast to coast trail’ (Devoran to Portreath) can be seen from the cottage and is a 5 minute stroll away. Dotted around the valley are the old engine houses including Hawkes’ engine house at Killifreth mine and 'Unity' Engine House.  A reminder of Cornwall’s mining heritage.

Valleyview Barns location is in an ideal position with easy access to the A30 and only  5 miles to the Cathedral City of Truro,  5 miles to the North coast beach of Porthtowan and the coastal paths, and Falmouth is 9 miles.

Relax in the garden whilst taking in the views, and look out for the local wildlife including foxes, buzzards and rabbits over a complimentary bottle of  wine!

If you want something a little more active then Bissoe Tramways cycle hire can deliver and pick up cycles to the property (with prior arrangement).  Foxhole riding stables are only 1 mile away offering daily horse treks through the mineral tramways coast to coast trail for the novice or more experienced rider!

A brief description of Unity Cottage....

We are open all year round with short stay/breaks available

Unity Cottage at Valleyview Barn is a brand new, semi detached three bedroom  barn conversion split over 3 levels and sleeps up to six people.   The property benefits from a sympathetic renovation (having worked closely with the Cornish builder and carpenter to keep and create as much of the barns character as possible) including mostly exposed beams and some internal stone  (some lovely wobbly walls).

The barn has the added benefit of under floor heating running throughout, giving real comfort in the winter months and the  finish is complimented  with black riven slate flooring, traditional ledged and braced internal doors along with a stable front door and real wood windows. Everything is finished to a high standard and with a contemporary twist.

Bedroom 1 consists of a 5ft double bed with white en-suite shower room. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, whilst bedroom 3 is a single room with bunk beds.

The main bathroom is part tiled in tumbled marble tiles and has a white suite consisting of a bath with shower, sink, low level toilet and heated towel rail.

The living/dining room benefits from a large leather corner sofa and armchair, LCD television with Freeview, DVD, stereo,  modern farmhouse dining table and chairs.

The kitchen is solid oak and fully fitted with ceramic electric hob and oven, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer.  The French windows lead out to raised decking with garden furniture, and the garden  backs straight onto open fields (usually with cows or bulls as your neighbours), along, of course with the views across the valley.  (Remember to look out for the local wildlife including the foxes, buzzards and rabbits!)

Water is via our own spring (green policy).

All bedding and towels are supplied.

We regret due to the barns layout ( 3 different levels), it really is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Parking for up to 3 cars.

NB. Car parking is at the back of the barn and a small path leads down to the holiday let.

A highchair can be provided at no extra cost if requested.

We operate a no smoking policy within the property.

We regret no pets.

Storage facilities are available for walking gear, riding gear and cycles at no extra cost (just let us know when booking or before you turn up).

All towels, bedding, electricity and heating are inclusive of the price.

We provide a bottle of wine, tea, coffee, milk & sugar on your arrival to help you enjoy the start of your holiday.

Our location is in an ideal position with easy access to the A30 and less than  5 miles to the Cathedral City of Truro (great restaurants and shops), only 5 miles to the North coast surfing beach of Porthtowan and the coastal paths, and Falmouth  (Maritime museum) is 9 miles away.

Foxhole farm riding stables are within 1 mile and offer great hourly treks through the mineral tramways coast to coast trail  for all abilities.  They can be contacted on 01209 820162.

We are 5 miles to the nearest surfing beach which is Porthtowan, and the Southwest Coast path.

Directions

Driving on the A30, take the A390 towards Truro and  follow the signs to Chacewater. When you reach the Kings Head pub in Chacewater (first pub on left), turn left after the pub up Church Hill Road. Continue up the hill passed the Village hall, School and the Church. After ˝ mile you will come to a small crossroads signposted Twelveheads to the left and St. Day to the right. Turn right, then the next left (after the ‘Old Counthouse’) continuing down the hill. We are 150 yards down the hill on the left hand side.

Our environmental / green policy

Our water supply is pumped up from our own spring over 70 metres underground.  We have the relevant filters on the system to meet all health and safety (UV filter and particle filter). This water is lovely to drink!

We are very conscious of our water usage and therefore hope that during your stay you will also respect and be aware of your water consumption.

There is a very water efficient dishwasher (using an average of 16 litres per wash) and a washer dryer (again using on average 50 litres per wash).  These along with the fridge freezer are all energy rated A-B.  Please try and use the  machines on full loads.

We recycle our paper, tin, plastic, cardboard and glass and provide recycle bins for all the above (our local council provide the recycling collection).

We have installed a treatment plant instead of the usual septic tank as this has micro organisms living in the tank and they break down and filter the sewerage and thus discharges clean water into the ground.  This is more environmentally friendly with no contamination to the ground.  On this basis no bleaches or strong chemicals are put down our toilets or sinks and we ask you use the Ecover products provided.

Energy light bulbs have been put wherever possible in the cottage.

Please contact us via telephone for any other information or enquiries.
