Periton Park, Minehead, Somerset
PERITON PARK was originally a Victorian Hunting lodge. It was still occupied
as a family house until redeveloped in the late eighties. The main house (not
the subject of this Web Site) remains a private home. The stone built Stables
and Coach House were converted into cottage style self catering holiday
accommodation. A new stable block was built and
PERITON PARK COURT and PERITON PARK RIDING STABLES opened for business providing
high quality holiday accommodation and escorted riding in the Exmoor National
Park. A new outdoor riding arena was opened in 2005 which has added riding
tuition to the range of services available at Periton Park.

Although perfectly secluded at Periton Park, we are just 1.5 miles from the
centre of Minehead where all the usual seaside amenities are available. The Town
has a wide choice of restaurants and the surrounding area has an abundance of
country pubs, each with it's own style and atmosphere.
Periton Park Court nestles at the edge of legendary Exmoor where the contrasting scenery offers space, peace and beauty, where the landscape changes from deep wooded valleys to heather capped moor lands and patchwork farmlands before plunging dramatically into the sea from rocky hog's back cliffs.
On Exmoor, red deer and ponies run free whilst buzzards soar majestically in the sky. Badgers, foxes, rabbits, otters and over 240 species of birds are just a few examples of the wildlife to be seen from 600 miles of public footpaths and bridle ways. The West Somerset and Devon coast offers magnificent seascapes ranging from the sandy beaches at Blue Anchor and Dunster to the picturesque Porlock Harbour and Lynmouth. Red deer can often be seen grazing at Periton Park and for the patient visitors, badgers and foxes can also be viewed living within our boundaries.
Dunster, a well preserved medieval English village, has a splendid castle, yarn market and working mill. Superb gardens can be viewed at Knightshayes and Arlington Court. Some of the prettiest villages in England are at Winsford, Selworthy, Luccombe and Allerford.
Most country pursuits are available. As well as riding arranged at our own
stables there is great mountain biking and lovely walking direct from Periton.
We can also arrange Falconry and Clay Pigeon shooting. Minehead offers a fleet
of sea fishing boats, a links Golf Club, Tennis courts, Spa/Gym at Aquasplash
indoor leisure centre. Minehead is the terminus for the West Somerset Steam
Railway and one of the ports of call for the Paddle Steamer Waverley and SS
Balmoral. Also available in the local area is coarse fishing in rivers and
lakes, rough and driven shooting. For those keen on walking, in season the
National Park Rangers conduct guided walks across the moor.
