Duddings Country Cottages - Set in a stunning unspoiled location, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, Duddings offers all the ingredients for a memorable holiday in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. 3 miles from the coast, Duddings is an ideal base from which to explore the 600 miles of local public footpaths and bridleways. Many picturesque villages and harbours lie within easy reach, and the famous ponies and red deer can be found on the moor. The medieval village of Dunster is only 2 miles away, and is well worth exploring for its castle, priory, church, tithe barn, dovecote, water mill, and the famous Yarn Market.

Our Facilities

Facilities at Duddings include a hard tennis court, indoor heated pool, putting green, a new games room (with pool table, table tennis & table football), trampoline, football net & Gate Lodge Play Centre (2-story playhouse with swings, slide, fireman’s pole & assault course). Off the secondary courtyard we have an Information Room with Wifi access, a Pay Phone, brochures, a selection of children’s books & some videos & DVDs. There are eight acres of land to explore, with picnic areas, and a safe river where you may spot a brown trout! This is a marvellous spot for a family holiday in an area which has so much to offer.

The West Wing forms the greater part of a traditionally built thatched  Longhouse. Dating back to the 16th century and Grade II listed, the interior has been tastefully restored and offers a wealth of period features, including exposed beams and inglenook fireplaces.

Approached through a private, walled patio garden, the entrance porch leads to the main hallway with payphone.

The well-fitted kitchen has an electric double-oven and a ceramic hob, microwave, fridge-freezer + second fridge, dishwasher etc and a table that seats 5. You will find plenty of crockery and utensils for 12 plus spares for visitors.

The oak-floored sitting room has a massive inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, Sony Bravia TV with Freesat HD, DVD player, CD player with IPod dock and comfortable seating.

The dining room, which seats up to 16, has an inglenook and a polished hardwood floor, offering a perfect setting for that special celebration meal.

Leading off the hallway is a second sitting room or ‘snug’ with a second TV + Video player and a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, sink & loo

Also on the ground floor is a twin bedded room with an en-suite shower room & loo.

Upstairs, there are five comfortable bedrooms (double + 4 twins), a family bathroom with bath, shower & loo, and a further shower room with loo & washbasin.

The West wing provides comfortable, spacious, centrally heated accommodation for 12 people in 6 bedrooms.

Duddings is situated on Exmoor in the Avill valley, around three miles inland from the West Somerset coast.

Located within 4 hours of London, the Midlands and the tip of Cornwall, and around an hour and a half from Bristol, it’s easily accessible for both long and short breaks.

Travelling from Bridgewater/M5 Junction 23/24 (approx 50 minutes)

Follow signs for Minehead / A39.Continue on this road until you reach the village of Williton, where you should turn right at the mini-roundabout (still on the A39).  After several  miles take the left hand turn  signposted Dunster (A396), and drive through the village. Once out of the village, follow the road for nearly 2 miles. Duddings is on the right hand side of the road, just after the entrance to Knowle Manor (just before entering Timberscombe). Continue past the house to our main car park (150 yards).  Walk down the gravel drive and through the courtyard. Ring the ‘enquiries’ bell at the front of the main house & we will show you to your cottage.

Travelling from Taunton/M5 Junction 25 (approx 45 minutes)

Follow signs to Minehead to avoid the town centre. Once through the town continue to follow the Minehead signs (A358) until you reach Williton. Turn left at the mini-roundabout onto the A39, and follow the directions as above.

Travelling from Tiverton/the South

If approaching from the south on the A396 from Tiverton to Dunster road, you will find the main car park about one third of a mile on the left hand side of the road after passing through Timberscombe village.
