Milking Barn is a recently refurbished self
catering holiday cottage in Shropshire, situated in the beautiful Corvedale
a 10 minute drive from the medieval town of Ludlow and overlooked by the
stunning Brown Clee Hills. We are on the private country estate of Delbury Hall
adjacent to mynd hardy plants, situated on the edge of Diddlebury village.
Delbury Hall Estate has two Trout Lakes and a walled garden nursery, where
beautiful cottage perennial plants can be bought; both are only a two minute
walk from the property on a private lane.
The pretty village of Diddlebury quietly sits in the lovely Corvedale, amidst beautiful South Shropshire countryside, 8 miles from the historic town of Ludlow. Close to the outstanding Welsh Marches and boasting an award winning pub (The Crown) nearby, this peaceful location offers excellent base for a cycling or walking break in Shropshire. The new 12 mile Three Castle Walk is on our door step.
We are also within easy reach of the renowned Wenlock Edge, Clee Hills and wonderful Long Mynd Hills, over looking Church Stretton. Cardingmill Valley and Church Stretton is only a 20 minute drive away, known locally as Little Switzerland (a real paradise for hill walkers).
Nearby Ludlow, with its listed buildings and medieval street patterns provides a fascinating back drop for the town’s regular street markets, held in the shadows of the 900 year old castle. Ludlow is now famed for its Michelin starred restaurants and is therefore ‘the place to eat’. Ludlow also boasts a number of antique outlets, individual shops, art shops, tea rooms, pubs and inns.
With Shrewsbury, Hereford, Bridgnorth all within easy reach, as well as the popular Ironbridge Gorge Museums, Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall, Stokesay Castle, this is a superb destination for a relaxing weekend break, short break or walking break in Shropshire - all year round.
Milking Barn is a recently renovated (2007) Cow Shed; which was originally the farm for Delbury Hall. It is an attractive brick built barn with oak windows and doors. The cottage is furnished very tastefully in a country cottage style with large wood burning stove and exposed beams. There is also a heated swimming pool (heated mid June to mid September) shared with the owners. The property also has central heating included in the hire price.
The cottage overlooks a courtyard; together with the owners barn. The cottage sleeps four with an additional double bed settee in the lounge. The main bedroom boasts a super king size bed and bedroom two has two 3ft single beds, both bedrooms are en suite with shower cubicles. All bed linen is provided.
The spacious Kitchen/Dinner has a country pine table and chairs to seat six. The kitchen has a Belfast sink, electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and toaster. There is also an iron and iron board.
The lounge has a large inglenook fireplace with a cast iron log burner (logs supplied) as the centre piece. The room is decorated in golds and reds to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. There is also a large sofa bed settee, TV and DVD Player (a selection of films supplied). The lounge and main bedroom have views onto the heated swimming pool.
The small private garden (fenced) can be accessed via French doors from the main bedroom onto a covered decked area with garden furniture and BBQ ideal for al fresco eating, looking out onto the horse paddock and swimming pool. There is also a garden to the side of the property (unfenced) with a garden pond and of course the patio around the swimming pool.
This is a superb location for a peaceful, relaxing get away from it holiday, you will be surrounded by beautiful South Shropshire countryside with views to the Clee Hills. There are walks and cycle routes direct from the door including the new three castles walk (12 miles long). Or do nothing more than just relax around the heated outdoor swimming pool enjoying the views.
