Deanshold is a stylishly furnished apartment situated in Oakham, a small market town set in glorious green countryside of Rutland, the smallest county in England. The Deanshold apartment is available for rent for short breaks, weekly or monthly lets throughout the year.

Deanshold itself dates back to the 16 century when the street was called Dean’s Lane and over the years has been a Bakery and a small Haberdashery.

Within walking distance of the apartment is the towns high street with a number of local shops selling a wide variety of items, from Jewellery to Flowers, Dresses to Shoes, Chocolates to Special Soaps.

The local Post Office is only a five-minute walk should you want to send a postcard or letter. The town has two Supermarkets, Somerfields located on the High Street and just around the corner on South Street is Tesco’s (car parking available).

Daily car parking is available in Church Street, Burley Road and Mill Street. Long term car parking is available off Westgate.

The Tourist Information Centre is located on the High Street in Victoria Hall and further along you will come across our Library.

On Wednesday and Saturdays there is a local market in Market Place with a mixture of stalls from fresh fish, olives, hats, clothes, pet stall to good old fruit and veg.

Oakham is situated very near Rutland Water. Peterborough is twenty three miles away to the east and London is around one hundred miles south on the A1 motorway.

Travelling to Oakham by road is relatively easy from all parts of the country as it is conveniently situated close to the A14 (the A1 and the M1 link road).

For the rail traveller, an excellent inter-city service operates from Kings Cross in London to Peterborough and from St Pancras in London to either Kettering or Leicester, taking approximately three quarters of an hour. A transfer train from either Peterborough or Leicester takes about thirty minutes.

For those travelling by air, Nottingham East Midlands Airport is less than an hours drive away and provides an ideal link with Europe.

Oakham has a number of attractions, from the Castle with its famous collection of horseshoes, presented to Oakham by Royalty on their visits to the town. The Butter Cross in the Market Place and the local museum, with wonderful displays and a history of Rutland itself, are all within walking distance.

Rutland Water –Only a short drive away is Rutland Water famous for being the biggest manmade reservoir in western Europe, completed in 1977 it covers 3,100 acres and holds up to 27,000 million gallons of water. Its main attractions are sailing and fishing, it offers some of the finest trout fishing in Europe.
