Holmby House offers high standards of accommodation in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Built in 1884 this elegant Hornton stone house lies on the edge of a North Oxfordshire village with beautiful views of the undulating countryside. Little disturbs the rural peace.
The house is recently restored and luxuriously decorated with classic colourful fabrics and fine antique furniture. The bedrooms are either situated in the main house or in the newly renovated Courtyard. In addition to the drawing room (shown above) guests staying in the Courtyard also have access to a spacious sitting room and an enclosed patio area.
The Courtyard at Holmby House can be booked on a self-catering basis to accommodate either a) 4 guests using bedrooms Aida and Cosy in a self-contained unit with the kitchen and sitting/dining room or b) 8 guests using all four bedrooms with the kitchen, sitting room and large dining room.
The sitting room, equipped with TV, video/DVD player, plus a radio/CD player, leads onto a private patio.
The kitchen is superbly equipped, including not only a microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and combined washer/dryer, but also a bread maker, blender and coffee percolator. The kitchen leads into the large dining room both of which are enhanced by oak flooring. A cloakroom / shower room leads off from the dining room.
French doors from the dining room open up to a balcony from which steps lead down to the swimming pool. A BBQ is available on the patio by the pool. Guests are welcome to explore the peaceful gardens in addition to using the swimming pool and tennis court.
The parking area is secluded from the road with enough space for 4 cars. Smoke detectors are connected to the electricity supply throughout the property. Linen and towels are supplied and heating and electricity are included. In addition to the complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms, guests are welcomed by a hamper which includes a bottle of wine, milk, tea, coffee, eggs, bread, butter, marmalade and orange juice.
Further essentials, including freshly baked bread and croissants can be purchased at the excellent, well-stocked village shop and post office situated only a two-minute walk away.
Children are welcome when renting the Courtyard
on a self-catering basis.
Smoking is not permitted in the rooms.
With a heated outdoor pool, tennis rackets and croquet equipment available, there are many ways for guests to relax at Holmby House. The tranquillity of the colourful and fragrant gardens are a joy all year round. Conveniently situated on the edge of the Cotswolds there is something for everyone, with Stratford-upon-Avon, Stow on the Wold, Chipping Camden, Oxford and Warwick within easy reach. The surrounding countryside is a delight for both walkers and cyclists, and there are facilities for horse riding and golf nearby.
There is an excellent gastro pub in Sibford (15 minutes walk), whilst neighbouring villages offer a plethora of dining options. Our first class village shop and post office is a two stroll.
