and Rose Cottages were recently converted from two adjoining barns overlooking
the old courtyard. Both have four-poster beds and log burning stoves and offer
the ideal romantic and peaceful retreat for couples.
"Hay holts" with soundproofed interconnecting doorways allow both cottages to be
shared by a group of 4 people whilst still maintaining privacy. Formerly
one of the old barns with hayloft over, Clematis Cottage retains many of the
original features including picture windows with views to open countryside. This
pretty cottage provides ideal family accommodation. Surrounded
by sweeping moorland with panoramic views to Coe Crag, Hedgehope and Cheviot
this is ideal walking country. The roads in either direction lead across
open moorland, offering hilltop and woodland walks and numerous vantage points
from which one can take in the wonderful scenery and breathtaking views.
Cragside House with its lovely walks and picturesque grounds, Brinkbum
Priory and Wallington Hall are all near at hand. For the more energetic
there are Thrunton Woods and in the nearby Northumberland National Park, Ingram
Valley and the beautiful waterfall of Linhope Spout.
