Holmcroft - A three bed-roomed house set in an area of
‘outstanding natural beauty’. The house has fantastic views over the surrounding
countryside which is easily explored on the many footpaths nearby.
Holmcroft is easily accessed by private car or public transport which means even
those without a car can enjoy a holiday here.
Allendale village centre, " UK Village of the Year", is a short easy 15min walk away. It provides a variety of Pubs, Inns, Restaurants and Cafes as well as a comprehensive range of local shops including the Allendale Co-op, North East winner of the best local retailer of the year.
Hadrian's Wall a 15 minute drive away, the Roman wall spans the width of Northern England. From Holmcroft you can easily access the heart of it including the Roman forts of Vindolanda and Housesteads. March saw its full length lit by burning torches set up by volunteers
Sleeps five with one bedroom having a double bed, the second twin beds and the third one a single bed. A folding bed for a sixth person and a cot are available on request should you need them. There is a family bathroom upstairs with bath, toilet and sink.
Downstairs a wet room equipped with power shower, bidet, sink and toilet takes pressure off the family bathroom during the morning and evening rush hours!
The front lounge is comfortably furnished with the option of an open coal fire for a cosy evening at home. It is equipped with satellite T.V. and D.V.D. or there are plenty of books and family games to choose from.
The fitted kitchen is well equipped for 6 and cooking
facilities are provided by a combination microwave/convection oven and 2 ring
hot plate. An oil fired Esse provides extra oven and hot plate capacity if
needed. There is an electric kettle and toaster, a fridge freezer and a
dish-washer should no-one volunteer for dish-washing duties.
Laundry facilities (washing machine, iron and ironing board) are provided should you want them – although this is a holiday!
A large conservatory off the kitchen has a dining table and chairs as well as a comfortable place to sit with your morning coffee and paper.
Outside a good sized patio area and a large garden give a pleasant place to sit or eat in the sunshine (BBQ provided). A summer house provides shelter on hot days and is great place for children to play in.
The house has oil fired central heating should the weather be cold enough to need it and the oil fired boiler also heats the water.
The attached garage has been set up as a games room with table tennis.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome although we would ask that they are not allowed upstairs and most definitely not on the furniture.
Available on request is a cot and high chair. Please note cot bedding is not provided.
The centre of Allendale ( winner of best Village in England 2008) is a pleasant 15 minute walk away or a 3 minute car journey. Here you will find plenty of good eating places, pubs, shops, churches and health centre. Our local Co-op stocks just about anything you might want at competitive prices and the eight till late shop means there’s always somewhere to get supplies. Recently extensively modernised the local Post Office provides, along with postal services, a coffee shop, news-agency and gift shop. Also in the village you’ll find a butchers and chemist .
Watch the notice boards and shop windows in the village centre as most week-ends you’ll find there’s musical or theatrical entertainment going on at some local venue. At new year Allendale is noted for its Tar Barrel celebration.
There are a wealth of wonderful walks right on the doorstep as well as horse riding and golf just a few miles up the valley. Keen fishermen can enjoy fishing at Langley, just four miles down the road.
