Northumberland self catering holiday cottages

These two mid 19th century cottages located in an Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty on the Northumberland Heritage Coast, have been beautifully
woven into one, sympathetically restored and refurbished for 2008 to provide
luxurious 5 star self catering holiday accommodation for up to eight people
plus cots.
Coast cottage sits in approx quarter acre of pretty enclosed garden opposite
the church and vicarage in the Northumbrian coastal village of Longhoughton,
which lies 5 miles east of Alnwick. This is an ideal holiday location for
exploring the Northumberland Heritage coast and is only minutes from the
beautiful beach “Sugar Sands”, accessible by car or on foot down a quiet
single track lane.
There are four double bedrooms (three king size, one twin)
with lovely comfy beds and linen. Three well appointed bathrooms with great
showers and roll top bath. There is also a stunning 21 foot long sitting/dining
room with squashy sofas and a wood burning stove. This together with the well
equipped country kitchen and range cooker make it the perfect holiday base for
your visit to Northumberland. The cottage is accessed down a private lane with
parking for four cars. The delightful enclosed rear garden is ideal for families
and barbeques.
Whether you are puffin or seal spotting, walking, golfing or just want to
enjoy your holiday chilling out on the beach Coast Cottage has been designed
to offer you a very special place to relax and unwind and enjoy your holiday
in Northumberland. It's also an ideal location for visiting Alnwick Castle
and the world famous Alnwick Garden.
While staying
at Coast Cottage for a luxury self catering holiday near the coast, why not
explore some of Northumberland's finest beaches?
The
coastline in Northumberland is some of the most spectacular in the UK. Unlike many
parts of Britain, there
are still uncrowded, room-to-breathe and unspoilt beaches in Northumbria -
often stretching for mile after mile, with hardly a soul in sight.
Sandy cove set in
extensive rocks that skirt the headland and are exposed at half-tide.
Access to
the cove is by road from Low Stead Farm. This is a private little beach
great for kids.
Second cove to the left of the end
of the lane is the best beach.
30 minutes walk/ 2 mins by car. Plenty parking
One of
England's most breathtaking beaches
and only three miles from your cottage, this is undoubtedly one of the
finest beaches in the country.
With apricot-coloured sand, towering dunes and views to the dramatic
medieval ruin of
Dunstanburgh
Castle, you will rarely
find such a dramatic setting.
Its giant
dune system shelters some quaint thirties summer houses; indeed Embleton
seems lost in a time warp, and is still totally uncommercialised thanks to
the protection of the National Trust. It's magical!
There's also
an intriguing collection of wartime pillboxes, which remain only because access
across the adjacent golf course was denied to the demolition gang.
A great golf
course where visitors are welcome for food and drinks at the golf club, just off
the beach. Great for kids.
