Wood Farm self-catering cottages are in the village of Edgefield, four miles south of the Georgian town of Holt. Edgefield is a typical rural Norfolk village in the heart of the gently rolling North Norfolk countryside making it an ideal base for coast (15 minutes by car) and countryside holidays. Norwich is another 20 minutes south.
Our cottages are located on the edge of the village on a secluded five acre site surrounded by fields and trees. We are 300 yards from the nearest road approached along a private driveway.
Wood Farm's self-catering accommodation consists of eight cottages converted from traditional Norfolk flint barns and stables incorporating many original features, and sleep
2 - 6 people in one to three bedrooms.
In the village we have a Pub, very handy garage and small village shop.
The Pigs Freehouse pub which is only a ten minute walk changed hands in November 2006 and was extensively refurbished. The pub offers a very warm welcome and excellent ale and food using fresh and locally sourced produce. Children very welcome, family friendly room.
The farm itself is arable, growing sugar beet, wheat and barley. Tractors can often be seen ploughing, drilling, fertilising and rotavating. Combine harvesters are out in July and August, sugar beet harvesters start in the late autumn. Owls nest in one of the barns, and the farmland is home to deer which can often be seen in the fields behind Chestnut and Elm. Other wildlife regularly spotted in the surrounding fields are pheasants, rabbits and even an occasional peacock (which can most definitely be heard in the distance!).
All our cottages are inspected each year (last visit 17/02/11) by VisitBritain Quality in Tourism; and have all been awarded four stars.
All our cottages are individual... and furnished in a similar style. Many retain original features of the old farm buildings such as exposed flint walls and old beams.
Living areas have comfortable sofas, easy chairs and a selection of paperback books. There are colour televisions with Digital Freeview Channels, DVD players and stereos with a compact disc player, radio and tape deck. All have board games and jigsaw puzzles. Kitchens have electric cookers, microwaves, dishwashers (except Willow and Rowan) fridge freezers (except Willow which only has a fridge with a freezer compartment) cafetieres, and a very comprehensive range of cooking and serving utensils.
Bathrooms have wash basins, toilets and full sized baths, all with showers over the baths. Ash and Beech have ensuite shower rooms to the double bedrooms.
Bedrooms are furnished with very comfortable beds (the majority of mattresses have been replaced in the last 2 years) and duvets. Heating is provided by storage heaters, and almost all rooms have additional convector heaters in case of chilly evenings. The water is drawn from a bore hole, which is checked by environmental health twice a year. Rowan Cottage is mains water.
Also provided are cleaning materials including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, tea towels and an oven glove.

You will also find a hairdryer, ironing board and iron in the cottage.
