Norton Cottage is a very pretty and peaceful fully refurbished semi detached period cottage sleeping 5 (plus 1) in the small village of Burnham Norton, Norfolk.
The accommodation comprises sitting room, kitchen/dining room, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was built in the first half of the 19th century in the classic Norfolk flint and brick style. Captain Richard Woodget, Master of the Cutty Sark was born in the cottage. It has lovely views of the garden and the surrounding countryside.
There is off road parking for 2 cars, full oil fired central heating, broadband internet access (wifi or cable), digital television with HD and Freeview, VHS video, DVD player, Sony Hi Fi, open coal fire, Bar B-Q, washing machine & dryer, fully equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, etc).
All linen and towels are provide, while well behaved pets are welcome by arrangement (with flee protection please)./p>
Burnham Norton Village (one of the seven Burnhams) is one of Norfolk's most beautiful villages. Quiet and secluded it nestles on the edge of Norton Marsh which is rich in bird and wild life. A twenty minute walk across the fields and marshes brings you to the idyllic deserted Norton Beach. At low tide you can wade over to Scolt Head Island or up to Burnham Overy Staithe.
North Norfolk Coast is an area of outstanding natural beauty rich in bird and wildlife with many nature reserves and National Trust owned coastal areas. Relatively unspoilt by modern life it boasts some very beautiful small local villages such as Brancaster, Thornham, Titchwell, Holme-Next-The-Sea, Moreston, Blakeney, etc with many spectacular beaches the nearest of which are Holkham, Brancaster, Overy Staithe and the local Norton Beach (only accessible on foot).
Larger local towns are Wells-Next-The-Sea (15 min by car), Fakenham and Hunstanton (both 20 mins by car) and both of which have larger supermarkets.
Dinghies can be launched from Burnham Overy Staithe or Brancaster Staithe both only a 5 minute drive from Norton Cottage.
Local stately homes include Holkham Hall, Houghton Hall, Oxburgh Hall and Blickling. There are also a large number of fine local churches including many with the famous Saxon Round Towers.
Nearest Train Stations are at Kings Lynn (30 mins) and Norwich (45 min).
Sitting Room: A pretty bright and comfortably appointed room. Two sofas, arm chair, window seat with views over the cottage garden and paddock. Open coal fire. Digital HD TV with Freeview plus a VHS video and DVD player. Sony Hi Fi CD/cassette/radio.
Kitchen/Dining Area: Well equipped, fully fitted, with electric oven and grill, ceramic 4 ring electric hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and Bosch dishwasher. Large dining table with bench seating and 4 chairs. The stable style back door opens onto a small graveled area (joined to the main drive) where there is a shed storing Bar B-Q and garden furniture.
Main Bedroom: Double bed with bedside tables with lamps, dressing table with drawers, wardrobe and analogue TV with VHS play facility.
Shower room: Adjacent to main bedroom with power shower, heated towel rail, WC and hand basin. Cupboard housing washing machine and tumble dryer.
The stairs are quite steep and care should be taken with children.
Single Bedroom: Comprising a single bed with full size pull-out single bed (stored underneath), bedside table, chest of drawers, built in cupboard.
Double Bedroom: Double bed with bedside table and chest of drawers.
Landing: Spacious with desk with a Broadband internet connection via a BT Hub which can be used either with an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. The space also doubles as a reading are with a large selection of books.
Bath Room: Bath with hand held shower, separate shower cubicle with power shower, hand basin, WC, airing cupboard with immersion heater and pipe heater.
