The Little Barn is self-catering accommodation for 2 people and can be found in the picturesque Usk Valley of Monmouthshire, designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.

Monmouthshire is on the border between England and Wales and has a diverse landscape and history. It reaches from the lower valleys of the Usk, Wye and Severn to the upper reaches of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.

The town of Usk is famous for its lovely river walks, fishing and its beautiful flower displays. There are numerous restaurants and pubs in the town where you can enjoy excellent cuisine. Or, if you want to stay at 'home' you can find delicious local produce at the Farmers Market that is held every fortnight and in the local shops.

Being a border county there are many castles to visit and even further back in history the Romans set up camp in nearby Caerleon where a Roman Amphitheatre can still be clearly seen.

Whilst enjoying the peace and quiet of this corner of Wales you are still close enough to the capital of Wales, Cardiff to make a visit. There you can experience sporting events at the famous Millennium Stadium, 'shop 'til you drop', enjoy the nightlife or even visit Cardiff Bay with it's many restaurants and entertainments.

The Little Barn has its own entrance with parking and a private garden for guests to enjoy. You can relax on the patio whilst watching the colourful sunsets through the trees. Garden furniture and BBQ equipment are provided.

The barn is furnished to a high standard. It has an open plan lounge/dining room with kitchen and one double bedroom with an en-suite shower room.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size electric cooker, hob and grill and an integrated fridge with freezer compartment.

The living area is comfortable and cosy with a log effect gas fire, TV/video, videos, games and books. You can enjoy your meals (if you stay 'at home') in the spacious dining area.

The bedroom has a comfortable double bed with wardrobe and full length mirror with an en-suite shower room.

A welcome pack can be arranged.

Although the kitchen does not contain a washing machine, for a small charge, use of the owners machine can be made by prior arrangement or laundry can be delivered and collected from a local launderette.

Within a 20 mile radius of The Little Barn you will find all the activities listed below in abundance. You can walk the rolling hills direct from the front door and fishing the River Usk couldn't be easier, just a few miles away. If you're prepared to travel a bit further from base you'll find even more, including coastal activities at the beautiful Gower Peninsular!

Fishing - You can choose from many fisheries and also some excellent game fishing rivers including the Usk, Wye and Monnow. While in Usk why not visit the world famous Sweet's Fishing Tackle shop. For further information on permits, beats etc.

Golf - Locally, you'll find Monmouth Golf Club, standing on high ground, it offers superb views as well as its challenges!

Generally in the area, you will find no fewer than 11 golf courses of varying degrees of difficulty, to suit different standards of golfers, including the Celtic Manor Golf Complex and St Pierre Golf Club. The Wentwood Hills course at the Celtic Manor is home to the Wales Open. Don't forget the 2010 Ryder Cup, so book early!!

Walking - The rolling hills of the Usk and Wye Valleys are on the doorstep. From Usk town you can walk a part of the Wye Valley Walk to the Roman settlement of Isca, known today as Caerleon, or if you choose the opposite direction you can follow the river Usk to Chain Bridge (and beyond if you wish!). There are the Three Castles Walk, stretches of Offas Dyke, The Sculpture Trail (Forest of Dean) and walks around Tintern Abbey.

Riding - What better way to see the views than from the mountain tops! Riding is available for all levels, from novices to confident riders in the Black Mountains near Abergavenny or slightly further afield in the Brecon Beacons National Park. If you don't mind travelling about 40 miles you will reach the coast and one particular stables takes the horses for a sandy gallop along the shoreline.

Gliding -  If you glide already, why not try out the South Wales Gliding Club, just half a mile down the road, the perfect way to see the fantastic landscape of this area of outstanding natural beauty. If you don't glide already why not try one of their trial flights? Or if that all sounds too much you can just sit in the garden and watch the gliders take off and come in to land.
