Our converted farm buildings were
originally built for returning
Lincolnshire soldiers who fought in
the Great War. At White House Farm
there are two self contained
self-catering holiday cottages available for
rent they are called: Parlour and
Horseshoe Cottage, both the cottages
have two large bedrooms which can
sleep up to a total of five persons.
The holiday cottages are accessed
by a ramped/level entrance Our self-
catering cottages also have a
shared attractive patio area with garden
furniture and barbecue, set in an
enclosed gated courtyard with potted
shrubs and flower beds.
The cottages have full oil fired
central heating. The cost of heating and
electricity is included. Both
holiday cottages include bedding, linen,
kitchen equipment, and have a
fridge, microwave, cooker & TV.
We have ample car parking space for
up to 4 vehicles. Pets by
arrangement only.
White House Farm is situated on the Southern edge of Horncastle. Our location is ideal for exploring the quaint local market towns and villages. For those that like walking, the Viking Way is a long distance footpath from the Humber Bridge through Lincolnshire countryside, to Rutland Water Reservoir in Oakham, Leicestershire. To help the walker navigate, the route of the Viking way it is waymarked with the sign of a Viking helmet symbol on gates, signposts and styles. Close by is the village of Woodhall Spa, famous for its Victorian Spa Baths and tree lined avenues. The village is now the home of the English Golf Union with it’s two championship golf courses. In World War Two the Dambuster Squadron were billeted at the Petwood Hotel, in the centre of the village a memorial has been erected to commemorate their achievements. Close by is the Battle of Britain Memorial flight at RAF Coningsby where you can see the last flying Lancaster in Great Britain. Just down the road at East Kirkby is the East Kirkby Aviation Museum (well worth a visit). The Historic City of Lincoln is only a twenty minutes drive away, with its cobbled streets and quaint shops, wine bars, and restaurants its really well worth a day out. Nearby is Cadwell Park (8 miles) famous for its racing circuit. For those with children the nearby East Coast resorts of Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-Sea, Anderby Creek, and Skegness can be visited for alternative days out. HORNCASTLE is a Market town situated on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the area is classified (as an area of outstanding natural beauty). Horncastle was originally occupied by the Romans, evidence of this can be found in and around the town. Some parts of the original Roman wall can seen in the local Library. St. Mary’s Church can be traced back to the early part of the 13th Century. The town was built on the banks of the river Bain and the river Waring up until the latter parts of the 19th Century the rivers were used to transport goods in and out of the town using flat bottomed barges. Horncastle used to boast of many pubs, this was because one of Europe's largest horse fairs used to be held in the town. William Marwood the famous Hangman used to live in the town, his cobblers shop is marked by a plaque in Church lane. Horncastle is well on its way to becoming the Antiques centre of Lincolnshire, with numerous Antique shops to visit
