Somersby is famous as the birthplace of the Poet Laureate Alfred Tennyson where his father was the rector. After schooling in nearby Louth, he entered Trinity College in Cambridge.

Tennyson later returned to live at Somersby rectory for six years after the death of his father before leaving for London where he continued to write memorable works such as Tithonus and Ulysses.

The rectory is within a short distance of the cottage and Somersby church is immediately opposite.

The Cowshed is a recently refurbished cottage in the heart of the ancient village of Somersby, birthplace of Tennyson, in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds.

Somersby is a tranquil village in rolling countryside, and the cottage benefits from wonderful views with a light airy bedroom and a cosy sitting room. It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the Lincolnshire Wolds or visit the many attractions close by.
