Papermill Cottages, Tealby, Lincolnshire

Welcome to Papermill Cottages - a beautifully restored group of cottages around a courtyard in the unspoilt and picturesque village of Tealby, in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds

Here is a place for those who appreciate the tranquillity of an unspoiled countryside but also superior self-catering accommodation.

There are five cottages in all, each providing comfortable accommodation for 2 - 6 persons. All are centrally heated and furnished to a high standard. There is secure parking on site as well as our own tennis court.

Golf courses are nearby, as are Market Rasen racecourse, the Viking Way and many other places of interest, making this an ideal base from which to explore Lincolnshire.

Papermill Cottages were part of Vale Farm until 1987 and are likely to have been used by workers in Tealby's flourishing papermaking trade of the late eighteenth century. They have since been sympathetically restored with many of the original stone walls still in place. Central heating has been fitted throughout the cottages and each are furnished to a high standard, providing a warm cottage interior with many original features. All cottages have TV and video.

There are five cottages in total with a variety of sizes and sleeping capacities to suit all families.

Cottage 1 : 1 twin, sleeps two persons
Cottage 3 : 2 doubles, 1 twin, sleeps up to six
Cottage 4 : 1 double, 2 twins (one a set of adult bunk beds), sleeps up to six
Cottage 5 : 1 double with single bed, 1 twin, sleeps up to five
Cottage 6 : 1 double, 1 twin, sleeps up to four

All bathrooms are fully fitted, some with showers and all with heated towel rails

Laundry and drying facilities are also provided on-site, as is a pay telephone. Freezer space is also available should you require it.

Fitted kitchens with oven, hob, refrigerator and microwave oven are provided in all cottages.

Papermill Cottages are situated in the village of Tealby, in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Tealby village lies on the B1203, just a few miles north-east of Market Rasen, which in turn is about halfway between Lincoln and Grimsby on the A46.

Local Area
The ancient British town of Lindon, renamed Lindum by the Romans. It's fine cathedral was begun in 1072 and completed in 1280. Much of Lincoln Castle, built by William the Conqueror on the site of Roman fortifications remains today and is a popular visitor attraction, housing an original version of the Magna Carta. The area between the castle and cathedral is now the site of Lincoln's famous Christmas Market.

Gainsborough
A market town said to be the 'St. Ogg's' of George Eliot's 'Mill on the Floss'. The 15th century Old Hall in the town centre is traditionally said to be the site of the assassination of Sweyne, King Canute's father. In the early 16th century it was a meeting place of the early Dissenters, later known as the Pilgrim Fathers, and John Wesley continued it's radical tradition by preaching at Old Hall on several occasions. The building is now used as a folk museum.

Market Rasen
A busy market town with a rail link to Newark and London, Market Rasen is well known for it's racecourse. There is a fine golf course and Willingham Woods nearby has a picnic area and a fine nature reserve.

Horncastle
A small market town on the site of the Roman station Bannovallum, with traces of Roman walls still existing. Today Horncastle is famous for it's many antiques shops.
