No.1 Hope Cottage - The Number One for Peaceful Retreats

Hope Cottages, Spilsby, Lincolnshire

Number 1 Hope Cottage

No 1 Hope Cottage offers well featured accommodation for three people in two bedrooms (one double, one single) and also comprises comfortable lounge, kitchen/diner and bathroom.

Outside, there is off-road parking for two cars and a garden which includes a Summerhouse and sundeck as well as boasting pleasing open countryside views.

Beyond the garden to No 1 there is a small orchard, access to which is shared with guests at our sister cottage, No 2.

Number 2 Hope Cottage

No 2 Hope Cottage is rich in country cottage features including beamed ceiling, some low height doors and sloping ceiling in the bathroom. The fully refurbished cottage offers ETB 4 Star accommodation for three people (one Double and one Single). The kitchen and utility room offer ample space and equipment for your self catering needs, with dining in the relaxed ambience of the lounge/diner. The two bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor via the original winding staircase.

To the front of the cottage there is a small garden and dedicated off road parking for two cars; to the rear of the cottage there is a private garden with summerhouse. Beyond the garden is a small orchard, enjoying views of the open countryside, which is shared with our sister cottage, No 1.

We make every effort to ensure that you have a comfortable break in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The cottages are graded by the English Tourist Board as 4 star self catering accommodation and we have obtained the Welcome Host award.

Hope Cottages are generously equipped with dishwasher, washer/dryer, CD/radio, TV/Video/DVD and complimentary safe deposit box. Freshly laundered linen and towels are included.
The summerhouses and gardens allow you to relax and enjoy the sun without leaving the cottages. In colder months the cottages are warmly heated to give that cosy retreat feeling.

Lincolnshire is often described as 'The Secret County' - and perhaps a little surprising too.

Imagine roads with few cars, miles of country walks away from the crowds, wide open sandy beaches... There's plenty to explore; Tattersall Castle (National Trust) is a short distance away, the Aviation Museum at East Kirkby is literally round the corner, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is housed at Coningsby nearby. Outdoor swimming pool, home of English Golf and a most unusual cinema (Kinema in the Woods) await you at Woodhall Spa about 15 minutes drive from the cottage. If you are looking for Antiques, try Horncastle (10 miles) described recently as Britain's Antique Town.

Lincoln - A city of culture and entertainment
Lincoln offers history with its Castle, Cathedral and the historic Bailgate area (once the site of a Roman Colonnia), The Bishops Palace at the side of the Cathedral (English Heritage) is worth a visit, including one of the most northerly vineyards in Europe! A growing range of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues are also available in Lincoln which is currently undergoing something of a revival. Check out the Brayford Pool area where the new Lincoln University is developing fast - and is quite a contrast to historic Lincoln - here you can also take boat rides to see Lincoln from the waterside.

Local Towns
Haven't got time for a trip to the USA? Well within a few miles of the cottage you can visit both New York and Boston. The Pilgrim Fathers set off from Boston and today the town still has the feel of a port. You can climb the tower of Boston Stump for spectacular views over the county.

Parks, Workshops, Windmills and Teashops
Driving around within a few miles you will find Farm Parks, Country Parks (nearby Snipe Dales is particularly recommended), Craft workshops, working Windmills, Brewery (visit Batemans at Wainfleet), Teashops but little touristy commercialisation.

Markets
Lincolnshire has managed to keep many of the regular markets in its towns, do check them out - Louth (Wednesday including auction at 11am), Horncastle, Alford and Boston are all nearby.

Coastline and Beaches, Day Resorts and White Knuckle Rides
For those wanting to visit the coast Lincolnshire has plenty of wide open sandy beaches.... if you are looking for a quiet beach try Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve, Donna Nook (for seal watching in Autumn), Anderby Creek or Sutton on Sea. If you are looking for more excitement at the Seaside; Skegness, Cleethorpes and Ingoldmells should be for you. Stock car racing, waterskiing, Butlins for the day, Fantasy Island (some of Britain's biggest white knuckle rides and gig venue), Pleasure Island (another exciting theme park), Shows and Funfairs are all available on Lincolnshire's Fun Coast which is about 16 miles from the cottage.

Above all you can enjoy a peaceful time at Old Bolingbroke.
