Clematis Cottages -
Situated on a hill top with views of rolling countryside, fields and forests to all four aspects, it is the ideal location for a 'get away from it all' holiday or short break. The peace and tranquillity that surround the cottages helps you to unwind away from the pressures and stresses of day to day living.

Stone outbuildings which are believed to date back to the eighteenth century have been sympathetically restored and tastefully converted retaining many original features to provide luxury accommodation furnished to a very high standard.

Since we moved to Lodge Farm we have been developing our version of the good life.

We are both very keen gardeners, and our target is to develop a haven for wildlife around the farm house. Deer, badgers, and a whole host of beautiful birds are all regular visitors. (Including a family of woodpeckers!)

In addition to our own eggs & honey, we also offer a range of fresh fruit and vegetables from the gardens and orchard. (Subject to season and availability.)

What could be better than freshly collected eggs for breakfast?

As you have probably gathered by now we are committed to creating a habitat where birds and our local wildlife visitors can thrive. (To date as our commitment to the environment and bio-diversity we have planted over 1,450 new trees and shrubs in and around the gardens.)

What could be better than the introduction of a lake to complete the picture? Over the past 2 years we have created a water wildlife area which is attracting a host of new wildlife, including some spectacular dragon and damsel flies.

Sit out during the day or in the evening watching the sunset over the fields that surround us, and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.

We have placed benches and picnic tables around the lake for your enjoyment.

Burghley House

Regarded by many as the finest Elizabethan House in England, Burghley House was built in the 16th Century by William Cecil, the first Lord Burghley. Now in the hands of Lady Victoria Leatham, this stunning house, extensive grounds and sculpture park are open to the public over the summer period.

The reservoir of 3000 acres of water and 26 miles of shoreline was constructed by Anglian Water and has been developed to provide a wide range of recreational uses: walking, a variety of water sports, fishing, cycling (cycles can be hired), bird watching, children's play areas and places to picnic. There is a butterfly centre as well as the renowned bird centre with its Osprey programme.

Stamford Shakespeare festival

A purpose-built auditorium in the landscaped grounds of the Elizabethan Tolethorpe Hall near Stamford provides the setting for the annual summer season of outdoor Shakespeare, which attracts 30,000 visitors a year. Prior to performances, theatre goers can dine in the Hall or picnic on the lawns. Tickets and details from Stamford Arts Centre.
