The layout of the building is one up one down. The accommodation is ideally suited for 1 or 2 Adults or a couple with 1 or 2 small children. We do not recommend the accommodation for families with grown up children.

Scalford lies 3 miles north of Melton Mowbray. It is an ancient village, well over 1100 years old and it's Saxon name, originally 'Shalford', means 'Shallow Ford'. Scalford's church is a focal point for the village and is the only one in the country which is dedicated to St Eglewin (a seventh century saint). There is also a Methodist church which holds weekly services. In 1303 the village had a fair and a weekly market and until recently was a producer of Stilton Cheese. Scalford also boasted a railway station in former times. In 1801 Scalford's total population was 333. In 1901 it was 631 and by 2001 there were 618 residents and 244 dwellings in the village.
The Kings Arms Inn & Restaurant serves a good selection of local beers and has a reputation for excellent food served in traditional pub surroundings. The pub is only a 3 minutes walk from your front door, in the centre of the village. There are several other very good pubs and restaurants in the area. We will be happy to point you in the right direction any time during your visit.
