Lancashire self catering holiday cottages

The Potting Shed is a detached former garden store situated in the grounds of our family home on the outskirts of Rochdale. In 2009 it was lovingly converted to provide luxury 4 star self catering accommodation.

The Potting Shed is ideally situated for exploring the South Pennines, being on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border.  Within thirty minutes by car or by train you can be in Manchester with its well-known shopping, restaurants and theatres.

The Potting Shed is centrally heated and suitable for all year round occupancy. Set in its own grounds and in a semi-rural location, it provides warm and welcoming accommodation for up to 4 people.  It is the perfect place to stay whether for a relaxing break or for business purposes.

Outdoors there is ample parking for two cars and a large, private garden.  Inside, the oak kitchen is fitted and fully equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The kitchen patio doors open out onto a paved seating area where you can enjoy relaxing and al fresco dining.

The comfortable lounge has leather sofas, TV/DVD, CD player with iPod dock and a choice of books and games.  The dining room is modern, light and airy, the ideal place for meals. Oak flooring has been used throughout both these spacious living areas.
Upstairs there is a fully tiled luxury bathroom with large shower, washbasin and toilet. There are also two spacious bedrooms, one with a king size bed, the other with twin beds.  Both are carpeted for warmth and comfort and furnished to a high standard with oak furniture.  Towels and bed linen are provided.

Ideal Location

The Potting Shed is ideally situated for exploring the South Pennines, being on the Lancashire and Yorkshire border. Local amenities include Hollingworth Lake Country Park, Saddleworth and Hebden Bridge. It is within walking distance of a local pub which serves food and also a highly regarded restaurant/wedding venue. Within thirty minutes by car or train you can be in Manchester with its well-known shopping, restaurants and theatres.

Hollingworth Lake Country Park

In Victorian times Hollingworth Lake was known as the "The Weighvers' Seaport". Now once again visitors can enjoy many outdoor attractions and an excellent Visitor Centre. Spanning 118 acres with the dramatic backdrop of Blackstone Edge, the lake is one of the most popular days out in the area. With boating, nature reserve, trails, events, guided walks, Visitor Centre, community arts, environmental exhibitions, play and picnic areas- it is the perfect day out for all the family.
