An idyllic 16thC thatched cottage (the middle of three) situated about an 8
minute drive away from Knowle Farm in the picturesque village of 'Week',
Dartington, near Totnes.

living/dining room with large stone fireplace, wood burning stove and old oak
beams. There is a separate well equipped kitchen with stable door to garden and
a bathroom with shower attachment and WC. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a
twin bedroom, both with views over the hillside.

Post Box was totally renovated by us in 1999 and whilst the character of the
cottage remains absolutely unspoilt you will find everything is clean and
comfortable. Parking is in the lane by the cottage.
The cottage has full gas central heating. Gas and electricity are charged on
arrival at £10 per week from May to September and £25 per week October to
April.
Dartington has its own village general store and post office and a very pretty
thatched pub 'The Cott Inn' that serves excellent quality meals and has an
outside table area. The Dartington Cider Press Centre offers all sorts of
unusual shopping possibilities including cafe's and a delicatessen. All these
are within walking distance of the cottage.
Guests have full use of all the facilities at Knowle Farm.
Foxglove and Cow-mumble are our brand new two bedroom cottages that opened in August 2006. The photos are of Foxglove but Cow-mumble is almost identical only in mirror image. Both sleep up to four plus a cot and like Applecross they are 'upside down' cottages.
Downstairs are two bedrooms. One double and one twin bedded room. There is a separate bathroom/WC with shower attachment. Upstairs is an open plan living/dining area and a well equipped kitchen area including a dishwasher.
There are lovely views over the hillside from Foxglove and over the pond and countryside from Cow-mumble.
Foxglove is slightly larger to allow for a more gentle staircase and slightly larger bathroom - it is therefore more suitable for the partially disabled.
Like our other cottages they are fully equipped with everything you will need. We will be fitting wood burning stoves but initially the cottages may not have these.
Both cottages have full oil fired central heating . Oil and electricity are charged for by meter reading.
Note: For Christmas and New Year periods and also during low season periods we will let these cottages together for larger groups of up to eight plus cots, as they have interlinking doors upstairs (that are normally kept locked). The table in Foxglove will seat eight persons. This will be by prior agreement only at the time of booking. Please phone us for details of terms (it is our policy not to let our cottages jointly to larger groups at other times).
Knowle Farm is set in rural countryside on the outskirts of Rattery, which is approximately ten minutes west of the historic market town of Totnes on the River Dart.
We are just three hours from London and the Midlands, being a
short and easy drive from the A38 link road between Exeter and Plymouth.
A marvelous array of wonderful countryside surrounds us including the majestic
Dartmoor National Park, which is on our doorstep. Within 30 minutes are superb
sandy beaches with spectacular coastline. The South Hams is designated an area
of outstanding natural beauty.
As we are centrally located to the whole of the South Devon area we offer an ideal base for those looking for somewhere to relax while on days out they can explore the enormous variety of countryside and places of interest that can be found throughout the region.
Within the village of Rattery itself and a pleasant walk from the farm, via either the footpath or the country lanes, is one of the oldest pubs in England. The 'Church House Inn' dates back to 1028 and offers an excellent menu for eating out, lunchtime or evening (including an area for those with children). A never-ending choice of other high quality pubs and restaurants are within a short driving distance.
The area offers a wide range of things to do for all ages with steam trains, boat trips, local fishing, riding, golf courses, superb walking country and numerous fun places to go with the children. Pennywell Farm and Wildlife Centre, repeatedly voted the West Country's Best Attraction, is under two miles away and a whole host of other top class attractions are within easy reach of Knowle Farm.
You will not be bored even if you return year after year. Many of our guests already do and they still find new places to visit and explore.
