Edith Nesbit, the author of "The Railway Children" is believed to have once lived in the cottages.
At one time the cottages were used as a restaurant and served cream teas in the gardens and the Fairground opposite the cottages was once a Putting Green.
Although the High Street has changed considerably over the years the front view of the Dormers Cottages remains the same as it did 250 years ago. Number 27 was tastefully and sympathetically refurbished in 2008 but still retains its charm and character with beams and tiled floors while having all the modern benefits of central heating and a new oak kitchen.
Once inside 27, High Street, you are greeted with a lovely working Inglenook Fireplace in the sitting room which also has TV & a DVD player.
