Higher Bowden Holiday Cottages, Devon, lie in a beautiful and secluded south facing valley in the picturesque and peaceful location of the South Hams, Devon - a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Less than a mile away is the award winning family beach at Blackpool Sands, with its own amenities and water sports. Within 15 minutes drive is Slapton Ley and nature reserve and the pretty historic naval port of Dartmouth with its many notable restaurants including the 'New Angel' owned by John Burton-Race.

This family run complex was developed from two adjoining 17th century farms set in 6.5 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, each cottage having its own individual character and providing a high level of comfort and modern amenity. The cottages range in size from one to four bedrooms and are clustered at two levels of the complex, five at the lower level and eight around the landscaped courtyard, with the main amenity areas set between the two levels. Children are particularly catered for with cots, high chairs, stair gates and booster seats provided free of charge

This is self-catering with a difference; all the cottages have log-burning stoves set in brick inglenooks in addition to night storage and electric heaters. The handcrafted pine kitchens include fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, wash/drier as well as a full range of kitchen equipment. The bathrooms are modern with power showers and at least one fitted hairdryer. There is direct dial telephone, radio/CD player, DVD player, remote control digital TV (13 channels including SKY and CBeebies) and wireless broadband internet access. The large modern comfortable pine beds are complete with linen and towels. Each cottage has its own patio/garden area (many with secure terraces) with patio furniture and BBQ provided... 'A home from home' with the option to order fresh or frozen meals, made from fresh, local produce, delivered to your cottage from 'Kate's Cuisine'

A large indoor swimming pool 30' x 20' approx. with toilets & changing rooms, spa bath, sauna, well equipped gym and large equipped under 5's playroom, games room for older children/adults with table tennis, table football and pool table and a separately housed full size snooker table for adults only. Outdoor free activities include 2 children's play areas, trampoline, tennis court (rackets and balls supplied), a 9-hole putting green and boules piste.

Hayloft Cottage- Sleeps 6 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

This deluxe house has one twin-bedded room with shower room /WC downstairs and, upstairs, one double-bedded room with en-suite shower/WC and one bunk-bedded room with an extra bathroom/WC. Kitchen and open plan lounge and dining area.

Rose Cottage - Sleeps 6 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

This detached south-facing, three bedroom, two bathroom house has a superb fully fitted kitchen, utility room and downstairs toilet. The sitting-room looks over the small low-walled garden. The bedrooms comprise one with double bed, one with twin beds and one with full size bunk beds.

Oaktree Cottage - Sleeps 6 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

This split-level open-plan deluxe house offers three bedrooms (one double en-suite and two twin-bedded with a separate family bathroom). The spacious lounge and dining room has a beamed ceiling and French doors opening to the south-facing terrace.

Buttercup Cottage - Sleeps 6 + cot (Friday to Friday)

A semi-detached deluxe cottage with one double and one bunk-bed room upstairs with two bathrooms/WC and one twin-bedded room downstairs. A fine fitted kitchen in open plan to the lounge/dining room and a large south-facing terrace.

Wisteria Cottage - Sleeps 6 + cot (Friday to Friday)

The semi-detached deluxe partner to Buttercup with similar accommodation and layout. A small private lawned sitting area to the front and a terrace with picnic table to the rear.

Snorters Corner Cottage- Sleeps 8 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

The four bedrooms comprise one with double bed, one with twin beds and two with bunk beds. This is a reverse plan design with three of the bedrooms and shower room downstairs and the kitchen/diner and separate lounge upstairs with the remaining bedroom and bathroom.

Beech Cottage - Sleeps 8 + cot (Friday to Friday)

This spacious cottage has four bedrooms (one double, one twin and two bunk-bed rooms), two en-suite shower rooms and a separate family bathroom. Large Kitchen/diner (including range cooker) and separate lounge with French doors leading onto a small west-facing patio garden overlooking the ponds.

Waterfall Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

Situated alongside Beech Cottage with a secure terrace overlooking the waterfall this cottage has a comfortable living room and attractive adjoining kitchen/diner. Well equipped throughout, there is a one double-bedded room with en-suite shower room and a twin-bedded room with another bathroom.

Garden Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot (Saturday to Saturday)

A peaceful outlook over the pond, stream, waterfall and gardens to the west with a private secure terrace, this cottage is situated next to Waterfall Cottage and has a similar bedroom layout and first class bathroom accommodation.

Cider Press Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot (Friday to Friday)

The ground floor is generously arranged in open plan style on two levels with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and large sitting area with French door to the terrace. Upstairs leading off the character timber landing, is one double bedroom with en-suite shower and one twin-bedded room with a second bathroom

Courtyard Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot (Friday to Friday)

This cottage has one double room and one twin-bedded room, with two bathrooms reached from its entrance hall at first-floor level. Downstairs is a spacious, well equipped kitchen with dining area and a comfortable sitting room with French doors onto its sunny patio.

Yeoman’s Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot (Friday to Friday)

Similar in position and layout to Courtyard Cottage with the same size and number of rooms and facilities and the same sunny courtyard patio. First class bathroom accommodation and pine kitchen.

Little Bowden Cottage - Sleeps 2 + cot (Friday to Friday)

This cosy cottage is perfect for a hideaway holiday for two. Upstairs, double-bedded room with 5ft bed and excellent bathroom. Downstairs, open-plan living room with old stone fireplace and small, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. French door leads onto the sunny courtyard.

All cottages have 20” TV and DVD players, with some cottages having DVD players. A large selection of current DVDs are available for guests to borrow.

They are all equipped to a high standard with fitted pine kitchens – including fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer etc. You will find direct dial telephone and radio/cd player. All cottages have their own outdoor sitting area, mostly with a secure terrace or small garden

We provide all bed linen, bathroom and kitchen tea towels – Guests should bring cot linen, swimming/beach towels and all your food and drink requirements, although two pints of milk will be ordered for your arrival.
