Our Bench Cottages - We are delighted to be the first place in the New Forest that is able to offer accessible self catering holidays, which the whole family can enjoy. Based on the outskirts of Lymington, just 2 miles from the New Forest National Park, we are an ideal base for exploring the area.
Our Self Catering Cottages are available throughout the year, whether you are after a short break, a weeks holiday, or a fortnight in the New Forest, we try and help.
You can choose between Bench Cottage, a two bed roomed cottage which can accommodate up to 4 people and a baby in a travel cot, Little Bench, a one bedroom cottage offering self catering for 2.
All our cottages have a range of accessible equipment which can be pre booked to make your holiday with us easier, please let us know of anything you do require on booking.
Lymington gives you the opportunity to spend time watching the boats at the picturesque quay, wander the streets and narrow pathways finding out more about our Smuggling past, Saturdays see's the town buzzing as an 800 year old market takes over the high street. If you looking for a different view, then why not take to the water - and enjoy a trip to Yarmouth by the Isle of Wight Ferry, or perhaps take in a Lymington River Cruise.
Our Bench Self Catering cottages offers a quiet place to stay whilst you tour the beautiful New Forest National Park, visit Exbury Gardens, or spend time discovering in one of our many museums - St Barbe museum, Sammy Millers Motorcycle Museum and Beaulieu are all well worth a visit. We keep a good range of leaflets and information on the whole area, which are available for you in your self catering cottage.
Alternatively you may just wish to meet up with friends, or make some new ones and enjoy some of the many accessible walks in and around the New Forest National Park. As member of the Disabled Ramblers Association we can definitely recommend some great places to explore.

Little Bench is a semi-detached self catering one bedroom bungalow sleeping two in either a 6 foot double or twin bedded room, in the grounds of Our Bench, on the outskirts of Lymington and on the edge of the New Forest National Park.
The accommodation comprises of;
- An open plan lounge/diner and kitchen.
- One Bedroom
- One shower room/wet room
The large bedroom is lovely and light with access both sides of the bed. Your bed can be made up to how you would like it either a 6 foot Double bed or Twin Beds, and are electric independently operated foot and head riser beds. Let us know what you prefer and we will have it made on arrival, with matching duvet and pillows for you. (If staying more than one week we will provide you with clean bed linen on a Friday, or would you like us to arrange to change the linen for you at no extra charge). Bedside cabinets and lights, alarm clock and wardrobe make this a very relaxing and quiet room.
The fully accessible shower/wet room comes with an adjustable height wash hand basin for your comfort, to the accessible toilet with drop down hand rails, to the wheel in shower.
The lounge comes equipped with colour digital LCD television with DVD. Comfortable chairs, including a electric riser/recliner chair, a gate leg dining table and chairs. All decorated to a high standard with lots of our own personal touches to make you feel at home.
The beautiful fitted kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with ice box, electric modern oven and a gas hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. All china and cutlery and a large selection of kitchen equipment for cooking. In fact you will find almost everything you need for the perfect holiday. The kitchen units are split level to make easier access for everyone.
To the outside you have your own parking space and sitting area which you share with Bench Cottage your neighbours which sleeps up to four people. A drive way alongside of Our Bench leads directly to the cottages.
All bed-linen, towels and tea towels along with gas central heating and constant domestic hot water is included, in our tariff.
Bench Cottage is a semi detached bungalow providing self catering holiday accommodation on the outskirts of Lymington, just 2 miles from the New Forest National Park. It has been purpose built to cope with nearly everyone's needs, especially those less able, as it is wheelchair friendly.
The accommodation comprises of an open-plan kitchen, lounge, dining area, and two bedrooms, all to a very high standard of decoration and comfort. Sleeping up to four people including well behaved children and babies.
The kitchen is fully equipped, having split level work surfaces, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washing machine. All kitchen utensils, cutlery and china are supplied, in fact everything you are likely to need to make your stay pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable.
The lounge and dining area have comfortable seating, including a electric riser/recliner chair, leather suite and a colour LCD digital television with DVD. A selection of books on the whole area to help plan your holiday. A gate leg dining table and four dining chairs make this a delightful room.
Master bedroom has electric foot and head riser beds which work independently and can be double or twin bedded. Wardrobe, bedside units with alarm clock, for a perfect nights sleep. Tell us how you would like your bed made, on booking.
The second smaller bedroom is a twin, access to the beds is from the centre of the room with a bedside cabinet, alarm clock and bedside light and chest of drawers. All beds will be made up with lovely fresh linen, duvets and pillows before your arrival.
When staying longer that a week fresh linen will be supplied and if you would like us to, we will change the beds for you at no extra charge.
The modern fully accessible bathroom has floor level shower, electric shower and grab rail. The adjustable washbasin can be lowered for those who need a lower basin for comfort. The toilet is access friendly too with drop down rails if required and space both sides for lateral transfer.

To the outside there are garden tables, chairs, sun umbrella, a large parking and turning space, all hard standing with tarmac and easy level access to your front door.
Lymington has many restaurants, public houses and takeaways and lots of individual shops, as well as one or two multiple stores. Discover the hidden park behind the shops, or a visit our market which is held every Saturday from 8am till 4pm summer and winter, where you can purchase everything you need for that perfect holiday. All within a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by car. A map giving directions will be found in your cottage.
The New Forest National Park is only 2 miles away where 93,000 acres of Forest are waiting for you to explore. Catch the New Forest Ponies wondering through some of the villages, walk through the enclosures and see if you can spot a Fallow or Red Deer. Just remember that the ponies can kick and that there is a forty mile an hour speed limit on unfenced Forest roads.
Come in the spring when the young foals can be seen everywhere, sit in the shade of the forest or on the cliff tops in the summer sun. In the Autumn come and see the splendour of the autumn colours, and in winter the forest is a magical place and there are so many attractions and museums to visit and you will find all the details in your cottage.
