Neatham Barn - Situated in the tiny hamlet of Neatham near Alton, Hampshire, up a quiet country lane, Neatham Barn occupies a lovely setting within the grounds of Neatham Cottage, the family home of Alastair and Liz Carey.

Constructed in 2004, this delightful 'oak' framed annexe enjoys a southerly aspect and far reaching views over the Hampshire countryside. The bedroom, which is on the first floor and accessed via an external staircase, has been tastefully decorated and furnished with the comfort of guests very much in mind.  Similarly, the downstairs kitchen come dining come ‘relaxation’ area is appropriately equipped to ensure an enjoyable and memorable stay.

For the business person seeking longer term accommodation in the area, Neatham Barn is absolutely ideal. With self catering facilities, a 'relaxation' area, broadband internet/wi-fi facilities and parking immediately outside, what more could one need?

Neatham Barn is equipped with full Sky HD (including sports and movies)

Please note that the accommodation at Neatham Barn comprises one twin/double bedroom.

There are two beds (one soft, one not so soft) which can be 'zip and linked' to form a king size double.

The en-suite bathroom contains a shower cubicle as well as a bath and there is an unlimited supply of hot water.

Heating is thermostatically controlled and is adjustable according to guests' preferences. A pedestal cooling fan is available during hot weather.

The spacious downstairs area is multifunctional not least of which are the facilities for self catering - gas range cooker, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, guests can really be pretty self sufficient.  And that’s not to mention the large 42” flat screen remote controlled television, DVD and video players, a full size pool table and even table football.  Needless to say, there’s a working area set up with broadband internet access in addition to the Wi Fi which is available throughout the barn and the garden.

A 'z' bed is available for use in the downstairs area although it should be remembered that bathroom facilities would need to be shared with those upstairs.

Other facilities in the room include:-

One of the advantages of self catering is that you can effectively ‘do your own thing’.  All the facilities are provided to ensure that you are ‘self sufficient’ throughout your stay.  You don’t even need to provide your own towels (unless you plan to pop to the beach) as all linen is provided.  There is a shop (and post office) down in the village and supermarkets less than three miles away in Alton itself.

The Holybourne village shop, post office and pub (The White Hart) is about ten minutes away on foot.
Other not so local pubs include The Hen and Chicken on the A31 in Upper Froyle (about a mile), The Golden Pot on the B3349 Odiham to Alton road (about three miles) and several pubs and restaurants in Alton itself. Alton is a bustling and friendly little market town (open air market every Tuesday) and although not quite on the same shopping par as say, Farnham (nine miles) it has two supermarkets, Smiths, Boots and a Currys. The Cathedral city of Winchester is less than half and hour away by road and there is a direct rail link to London Waterloo.

When not pub crawling or shopping there is much else to see and do in this lovely area of Hampshire:-
Culturally, there's Jane Austen's house in Chawton (pretty village just off A31 west of Alton) and Gilbert White's house in Selborne (on the B3006 Alton to Liss road). Museums include the Curtis in Alton, Milestones in Basingstoke, the Oates in Selborne and Rural Life in Tilford. For Houses and Gardens, there is the Royal Horticultural Garden in Wisley and the National Trust properties of Hinton Ampner, The Vyne, Petworth House and Uppark.

The south coast is also not a million miles away – about forty in fact.

For 'twitchers' there's plenty of variety in the area including, although we suspect not if you are a serious bird watcher, Birdworld on the A325 near Farnham.

Railway enthusiasts can hop on a steam train taking the Watercress line from Alton to Alresford or visit the Steam Collection in Hollycombe near Liphook.
