Forest Edge - Welcome to the New Forest Holiday
Accommodation website. We offer a choice of three self catering New Forest
holiday cottages
We hope we can help you to enjoy a wonderful new forest holiday here with us in
the New Forest National Park.
Forest Edge is an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday and a great location for touring the whole of the New Forest region.
Our self catering cottage and apartments lie a couple of
miles south of the ancient village of Downton, towards the north west of the New
Forest National Park.
Downton and our local village of Woodfalls provide a good range of shops, pubs
and restaurants. Fordingbridge (7 miles) and the Cathedral city of
Salisbury (12 miles) are just a short drive away.

Forest Edge is surrounded by the New Forest with many
woodland and moorland tracks for you to explore on foot, cycle or horseback.
We are fortunate to have a wide variety of wild birds and animals living around
us - it is often possible to watch wild deer from our property. The Forest
is an ancient home to a huge variety of wildlife including Red, Sika and Fallow
deer, ponies, donkeys and even domestic pigs and cattle.
Although called a "Forest", much of the New Forest is open heath land and
moorland covered in heather, gorse and general scrub. The woodland is a
mixture of large areas of ancient broadleaved trees and more recent, managed
coniferous plantations. The Forestry Commission have laid many tracks through
these for walking and cycling. Maps are available from the visitor
centres.
There are many other recreational opportunities close by,
Hamptworth and Bramshaw golf courses, horse riding, coarse and fly
fishing, together with the grand houses of Beaulieu, Wilton and Breamore.
Lord Montagu's National Motor Museum at Beaulieu with its 300 ancient
vehicles and motoring memorabilia is a great day out. The prehistoric
monuments at Stonehenge are only 40 minutes drive away. As are the
beaches of Highcliffe, Bournemouth and Mudeford. Mudeford Harbour offers
fishing, crabbing and deep sea fishing.
We have three lovely self catering holiday homes at Forest Edge.
They are all fitted to the highest standard with top quality modern equipment
and beautiful soft furnishings.
They all have gorgeous New Forest views.
Bedding and towels are supplied in all our properties.
Laundry facilities are available to all the properties.
Each property has a dedicated parking spot in our grounds.
Additional parking is available if needed.

THE BARN
The Barn, a delightful, picturesque accommodation, is a detached converted brick barn which formerly housed cows. The cows have gone out to pastures new, and the Barn is now ready for human occupation!
The Barn has a fully fitted kitchen including hob (stove top),
oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge.
The lounge has seating for four and includes a double sofa bed. There is a TV
and stereo.
The New Forest can be seen through the ceiling high windows.
A staircase leads to a galleried walkway and on into the double
bedroom and the bathroom.
All bedding and towels are included.
Outside is a garden and patio offering considerable privacy,
being hedged round with copper beech.
There is outdoor seating and a table for four.
THE TACK ROOM
This is the place to come for a New Forest holiday. The surroundings are great. The accommodation is smart and clean. Perfect all year round. We love it here and we know you will too. A perfect place to return to after exploring the New Forest, a round of golf, a day at the beach or whatever takes your fancy!
The Tack Room, as its name suggests, has been converted from a tack room and stables to provide lovely ground floor living accommodation. It is set in a charming, peaceful corner overlooking paddocks and forest.
The accommodation is clean and modern, with a bright fitted kitchen which includes oven, hob, fridge with freezer compartment, a microwave and a dishwasher all built in.
There is a gorgeous sparkling shower room, with chrome and white
fittings.
The double bedroom sleeps two comfortably with its pretty iron bedstead, lacy
drapes and built in wardrobe.
There is a large living and dining area which has a big corner sofa with a double bed hidden away inside it. Flat screen TV, DVD and Freeview box are all provided.
Beyond the patio doors is a paved area with table and seating for four, large lawns with paddocks beyond, and then on into the Forest. The wild deer have gained illegal entry into the paddock and often sneak in to help themselves to the grass!
Please note that smoking is not permitted in the Tack Rooms at any time.
THE LOFT
An idyllic retreat for the couple wishing to get away from it all, and who just want to relax and unwind for a while. The Loft offers a degree of comfort and style that will not disappoint. It is sparkling clean, well maintained and a pleasure to come home to. Watch out for the Deer and all the wildlife.
The Loft is a lovely first floor apartment, which was completely
refurbished in late 2005.
It is accessed by a private staircase which leads to the light and airy lounge.
The lounge has a TV, a DVD and a stereo with CD/Cassette player. There is a
comfortable leather sofa and quality soft furnishings.
The kitchen is equipped to a very high standard, and includes dishwasher, fridge, microwave, hob (stove top) and full oven. The kitchen window has a great view out into the New Forest, and deer can often be seen through the trees.
The water is softened and there is a separate filtered drinking
water tap.
The bedroom has top quality furniture and a wonderfully comfortable bed. All
bedding and towels are included.
There is a modern fitted en suite shower room with a large shower enclosure.
Please note that smoking is not permitted in the Loft at any
time.
