Browse the bric-a-brac stalls for a bargain or visit the monthly Farmers Market where you can sample the local produce, you might meet Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall our local celebrity chef from nearby River Cottage Centre HQ.

Explore Thomas Hardy's 'Wessex' made famous in many of his stories and poems from Highway Farm.

The farmhouse overlooks a secluded valley with two well-stocked coarse fishing lakes. The woods and hazel hedgerows provide home to a wealth of wildlife. While you enjoy a hearty home-cooked breakfast, made from the best local products, you may see roe deer, buzzards, pheasants and foxes to name a few.

Two established and sheltered spring-fed lakes well stocked with plenty of strains and sizes of carp to 12lbs, also lots of roach, rudd and goldfish.  Located in a secluded valley and the perfect place to relax and reflect away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy the tranquil Dorset countryside and view the wonderful wildlife at first hand.  You may see our two kingfishers or the regular heron visitor and fox, rabbit, and deer if you are really quiet!  We have identified 4 species of bat that feed near the water at night-time.

Highway Farm is the ideal destination for an angling holiday or do come down for the day if you are staying nearby.   Fishing lessons for beginners available,  excellent for increasing concentration and self-esteem, and catch some fish too!

"The two lakes at Highway Farm offer a good days sport for all levels of angler. For children and novices there is an abundance of roach and rudd with the odd goldfish thrown in and plenty of carp if you are lucky. For more serious anglers the carp grow into double figures and if you can work out how to catch them you too will go home with a smile on your face.
No fancy baits are required just a tin of sweetcorn and a few slices of bread.  I am sure we will be back to see you sometime in the future."

Explore our un-spoilt grounds, there may be cattle or sheep grazing the pastures. Hunt for sloes, wild damsons or hazelnuts in the hedgerows, harvest blackberries and enjoy the abundance of wildlife. Rabbits galore, buzzards that soar the thermals above the valley, ducks that dive, listen for the woodpeckers and watch the tame geese who march to the lakes on their daily routine!

Maps of walks and a comprehensive folder of local information, attractions and events are available for guests and we have a wealth of local knowledge to offer.

The breathtaking views from the coastal footpath are accessible from Highway Farm and well worth the effort !  Bus 31 stops opposite the entrance to Highway Farm and is a good way of walking the coastal footpaths - you can walk to Charmouth and catch the bus back! (The bus to catch is the number 31 or 53).

Our local Pub, the Ilchester Arms in the village of Symondsbury is a half-mile walk along country lanes where you can enjoy a local pint, good food and a warm welcome!
