Meadow Cottage provides peaceful, light, clean, warm, comfortable accommodation, with the added delight of stunning hilltop panoramic views over the beautiful rolling Essex countryside. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a short or longer stay. The cottage is tastefully decorated with neutral colours, it is very popular with all our visitors. Many guests enjoy watching the wide variety of wild animals and birds on the farm.

Woodland Cottage provides lovely, relaxing, light, clean, warm, comfortable accommodation, with the added delight of views over the beautiful rolling Essex countryside and woodlands. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a short or longer stay. The cottage is tastefully decorated with neutral colours. Many visitors return each year. It is popular with families who have young children, with the safe front and back enclosed gardens. Have an extended family holiday by letting 2 cottages, this is also popular with guests.

Orchard Cottage is cosy and warm, the facilities will ensure you have a comfortable stay. The single storey cottage is very suited for the less mobile. It is clean and light with neutral colours throughout. It is well equipped with everything you need for a short or longer letting. The secluded front and back gardens provide relaxing, private, quiet, scenic farm site views.

At Hill Farm we care about our beautiful countryside and long term sustainability, so we are committed to making our cottages and surrounding areas, as environmentally friendly as possible. The following is a list of how we strive to reduce our waste, carbon impact, pollution and help to protect, manage and enhance our natural environment:

• Environmental cleaning products are used in the cottages
• All linen is line dried during warmer weather, using eco products
• Most appliances are A-Rated to minimize energy consumption
• Most light bulbs are energy saving, outdoor lighting is on sensors
• The new oil heating systems are regularly serviced for efficiency
• Thermal insulation throughout, complies with all building regulations
• Double glazing on all doors and windows creates energy efficiency
• Water conserving cisterns, regular monitored water consumption
• Recycle all household products, including garden compost
• All wildlife encouraged to use gardens and meadows, we feed the birds
• New hedgerows and woodlands have been and continue to be planted
• Orchard fruits can be picked and consumed by tenants
• Nearest supermarket Tesco 10 minutes drive. Tuesday & Saturdays Market Days
• Local Rose and Crown Pub serves good food, 5 minutes walk

We cannot eliminate the need to travel by car, but there are local places to visit for Car free days...... beautiful country walks maps provided, woodland walks, a fascinating local village museum which serves excellent homemade refreshments, restored village windmill, old buildings dating back to 1518, 2 churches, river walks, excellent plant nursery, local pub serves good food, village post office and shop, children’s playing field, local cricket/football, meadows for picnics, bird watching, good cycle routes, safe gardens for children to play, buses to local towns

Every effort is made to continuously improve environmental management, so we invite you to support us throughout your stay here. So please........

• HAVE A SWITCH OFF POLICY. Switch off lights and all electrical items when not in use
• Close doors and windows when you have the need for heating
• Avoid the excessive use of water, try to reuse towels to save washing
• Adjust the heating to suit your requirements
• Stay for an extra week, there are so many places to visit and enjoy
• Recycle rubbish. We would ask you to separate your rubbish into different bins. There is a black bin in each garden for your general rubbish.
• The council provide 3 recycle bins. Your rubbish will be sorted & put into these bins.
• Brown.....household compost & food scrapes (must be put into biodegradable bags)
• Green....... plastic, cardboard, tins, plastic bottles, newspapers, drinks cans
• Black......... all other general rubbish.
• Glass Bottles will be taken to the bottle bank by the owners.
