Westover Farm Cottages is a member of
Visit Britain and provides three and four star self catering holiday
accommodation. We are situated in the quiet rural village of Wootton Fitzpaine,
in West Dorset, and are 1½ miles from the Jurassic coast at Charmouth, and just
2 miles from the Devon border. Historic Lyme Regis, famous for its Cobb
and ancient harbour is only 3 miles away.
We have three cottages available for let; Meerhay, Barn, and Cider, all
providing quality self-catering accommodation.
Picturesque Wootton Fitzpaine is surrounded
by beautiful countryside, deep rural lanes and is within walking distance of the
famous fossil beach and World Heritage Coast at Charmouth. It is a perfect place
in which to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, set in an area of
outstanding natural beauty (AONB). Meerhay Cottage is situated on
the edge of the village.
Barn and Cider Cottages stand adjacent to our working farm, where you can enjoy
farm walks.
Within a very short distance there are many interesting walks with breathtaking cliff top views, as well as charming, secluded haunts. Visitors can enjoy the varied flora and fauna, and the local area offers a superb setting for activities such as golf, bowling, sailing, fishing, pony trekking and biking.
Charmouth is a small coastal village with a safe beach, popular with swimmers in summer and walkers the whole year round. There is a Heritage coast centre (free entry, open all year) on the seafront that provides interactive displays of our prehistoric history and guided fossil walks. Lyme Regis is a picturesque and historic seaside town set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Visitors can meander around the narrow streets, and browse leisurely in the fascinating bookshops, art galleries, curio shops and the wonderful museum. There is a large number of quality restaurants which serve local food, and literary connections with famous authors such as Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen and John Fowles', "The French Lieutenant's Woman".
Meerhay is a very pretty cottage, with an attractive trellised porch, situated off a quiet rural lane.
The large securely fenced garden has lawns at back and front and has views over the National Trust hill forts of Coneys Castle and Lambert's Castle.
Inside the accommodation is spacious with an original inglenook fire place with wood burning stove, which gives Meerhay Cottage a real cottage atmosphere.
