Escape to the splendour of Norburton Hall, where a warm welcome awaits you at every time of year. Relax and unwind in our Edwardian country house, marvel at decorative detailing reflecting the Arts and Crafts Movement, and enjoy Bed and Breakfast with local and organic food served in informal luxury.

Within weeks of opening, we had received the coveted ‘Visit Britain 5 Diamonds’ for the quality of our Bed and Breakfast operation at Norburton Hall. Just a year later, we topped that with the ‘Visit Britain 5 Stars’ and the ‘Visit Britain Gold Award’ – so our guests know they are guaranteed top quality on every visit!

Or why not stay in one of the superior Self-Catering cottages, converted from the Hall’s restored estate buildings? Norburton Hall was originally a farm, dating back to the 1640s, and was substantially extended and renovated in 1902 to create the imposing complex of buildings that greet you today.

All our guests are free to enjoy the Estate’s undulating lawns and woodland, in the picturesque village of Burton Bradstock at the westerly edge of Dorset’s famous Chesil Beach

We can promise you the perfect setting for that perfect break. Come for a romantic weekend, or plan a private house party to celebrate a special event with family and friends. Explore the miles of beaches on the famous Jurassic Coast, hunt for fossils or simply laze the day away. Set out to walk the South West Coast Path along this World Heritage Site. Hit the Literary trail, uncovering the Dorset that inspired Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen and provided the backdrop for such classics as Moonfleet and The French Lieutenant’s Woman.

Savour specialty dishes and delicious local produce, in local inns and restaurants that are fast establishing this part of Dorset as a centre for fine, natural foods.

Under three hours from London, this is a haven you’ll want to return to, again and again.

All of our self-catering cottages and apartments are situated within the historic environs of Norburton Hall, close to the main house. A sensitive refurbishment programme in 2005 has transformed the traditional estate buildings, some of which date from the 16th century. Much of the original fabric, the features and character have been retained. These are now blended with the very latest in contemporary living to provide outstanding self-catering convenience and stylish top quality comfort.

All of the buildings have central heating and hot water included in the rental charge. In addition, quality bedding and towels are supplied, free of charge.

You can also pre-order a box of fresh local organic produce, to be available on your arrival. Choose from our Breakfast, Ploughman’s or Seasonal Produce Boxes.

Conveniently positioned off-road parking is provided adjacent to each property, for easy access. And guests are welcome to relax in the beautifully maintained gardens and woodland.

The Dairy Cottage

The Dairy Cottage is a traditional cosy bolthole for two that used to be a dairy during the 19th Century. The building itself dates back to the 15th Century and possibly even to Saxon times. It is one of the wings of the main building with its own entrance and occupies two floors with a double bedroom, en-suite bathroom and separate w/c on the upper level where there are views across the well maintained grounds to the Dorset coast and the sea.

The cottage has recently been fitted with a new kitchen and the bathroom upgraded with a new shower giving you the choice of a refreshing shower or a relaxing bath. The emphasis here is on comfort and it is the only traditionally furnished cottage at Norburton Hall.

The patio immediately outside has a table and chairs and is the perfect place to sit and watch the wildlife whilst enjoying the tranquillity of the gardens. Off road parking is provided and there is a short walk down a sloping pathway to the entrance. All quality linen and towels are supplied within the rental price.

Nestling in the idyllic Bride Valley, where the River Bride wends its way to the sea, Burton Bradstock sits on the Dorset coast at the western end of the great Chesil Bank.

You can see the river flowing along one side of the village street on its way to Chesil Beach and the sea. But to find the ancient centre of this picture postcard village, head for the other side of the main street, behind the thatched cottages and the Three Horseshoes Inn. There, you’ll find a labyrinth of narrow streets with 17th and 18th century picture postcard cottages built in the local stone, together with some brick fronted Georgian houses.
The Church of St Mary is earlier still, dating in part from the late 14th century with later notable additions such as Arts and Crafts style windows by James Prior.

Today Burton Bradstock is a thriving community, with a village shop and tea room, a Post Office, Library, garage and a children’s playground. The nearby West Bay Golf Course on the outskirts of Burton Bradstock welcomes guests.

For those who enjoy walking, it’s easy to join the South West Coast Path where it drops to the beach at Burton Bradstock. To the north-west, the Coast Path climbs again alongside the golf course, before a sudden decline to West Bay. Beyond is Seatown, rising steeply to the famous landmark of Golden Cap (the highest point on the south coast) before reaching Stonebarrow and Charmouth. To the south-east, it follows the coast down towards Abbotsbury and its world famous Swannery and Sub-tropical Gardens and then on to Portland
