Dorset self catering holiday cottages

Located in the heart of beautiful rural Dorset in the peaceful hamlet of Woolland, Ellwood Cottages are outstanding conversions of three traditionally built barns, in a courtyard setting.

Named after Dorset writers Hardy, Barnes and Blyton, the wheelchair accessible cottages have been lovingly restored to provide comfortable, tastefully furnished, year-round, single storey self catering holiday accommodation for disabled people, their families, friends and carers.

Outdoors there are spacious landscaped gardens with tables and chairs for guests’ use, providing stunning views across fields with farm animals and wildlife, to Bulbarrow Hill and Ibberton Hill.

Enjoy all the delights of Dorset from this perfect rural retreat, in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where comfort and relaxation are top priorities. Discover the breathtaking beauty of Dorset’s countryside and the stunning Jurassic coastline.

Our ultimate aim is to ensure that your stay with us will be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

All cottages have a cosy living/dining room, a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, hob and oven. The shower rooms are ‘wet-room’ style and everywhere is fully wheelchair accessible and ideally suitable for the less able bodied.

Enjoy a dip in the heated splash pool or be ‘pampered’ by one of our visiting therapists, with no journey home afterwards! Utter bliss!

Relax and unwind in the recreation room, or landscaped gardens with comfortable seating areas. The views over farmland towards Bulbarrow Hill and Ibberton Hill are just beautiful and you will be tempted to remain there for hours.

No pets allowed, however, Assistance dogs welcome. There is a 'no-smoking' policy throughout the cottages and all other buildings.

The warmest of welcomes on arrival. In your cottage a starter-pack of bread, butter and milk and an exceptional supply of useful local information.

Ellwood Cottages are in the hamlet of Woolland, pictured to the left from Bulbarrow Hill. Woolland is in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the heart of the North Dorset countryside, with its gentle rolling downland, woodlands and nature reserves.

Within this rich tapestry are many winding lanes, bridle paths, sleepy villages, shimmering rivers and streams, an abundance of wildlife and spectacular views.

A short drive away is the beautiful Georgian market town of Blandford, the important county town of Dorchester and the historical towns of Shaftesbury and Sherborne.

Within easy reach is Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site, and the Isle of Purbeck.

For Thomas Hardy enthusiasts there is his place of birth and many literary locations to visit.

Attractions for children are plentiful and include CoolPlay, a wonderful local play centre, The Royal Signals Museum, Dorset Heavy Horse Centre & Farm Park and Monkey World.  See our 'Links' page for links to these and many more activities and attractions.

Good food is a priority in Dorset and delicious locally produced quality food can be found at farmers’ markets, farm shops and in restaurants and pubs.
