Dorset self catering holiday cottages

Our holiday cottages in Dorset are the ideal self catering holiday. The cottages at Champernhayes are located on the Dorset and Devon border. The surround area of Champernhayes is situated on a gentle slope with woodland above and a stunning view of many square miles of fields below. Our southerly views are to the sea at Charmouth, 2 miles away, and just over the hill lies the charming historic port of Lyme Regis.

Enjoy England have awarded Champernhayes self catering cottages the highest 5 star rating for all our holiday cottages in Dorset. We are also dog friendly and would welcome you and your family. All our self catering cottages are in a traditional English village within a 10 miles radius of outstanding natural beauty within Dorset, the UK’s only natural World Heritage Site, this coastline is renowned for its fascinating geology and fossils – known locally as the ‘Jurassic Coastline’ – a real life ‘Jurassic Park’!

The holiday cottages at Champernhayes, Dorset have been created from the conversion of the original farmhouse buildings, which date back to 1482. The traditional self catering cottages have country-style kitchens and are open plan, with a dining area, and comprehensively equipped. Each self catering cottage has its own private garden complete with patio, hardwood garden furniture and gas barbeque. The heated indoor swim spa and hot tub is available throughout the year. Excellent walks are literally right on your doorstep, along with the unspoilt Dorset/East Devon coastline, famous for its smuggling history, where you can stroll along the spectacular cliffs and seashore where the unique fossils abound.

Champernhayes is situated on the gentle slope of a West Dorset hillside, with woodland above and a stunning view of many square miles of fields below. The tiny village of Wootton Fitzpaine is just half a mile away to the east, down a winding lane.

Champernhayes farmhouse and buildings originate from 1482 when, records tell us that a French family named Champernon farmed here. Hayes is the Old English word for enclosure, and this is how the name has been derived.

The whole area is designated as one of outstanding natural beauty and is easily accessible from the A35 road. Our southerly views are to the sea at Charmouth 2 miles away, and just over the hill lies the charming historic port of Lyme Regis.

In December 2001 this coastline was designated as the UKs only World Heritage site, (also known as the Jurassic Coastline) due to its outstanding geology.

Champernhayes Cottages are half mile north west from the Dorset village of Wootton Fitzpaine . Champernhayes is best reached via. Axminster or Bridport.
