Humes Farm Cottages, North Devon, were originally the livestock buildings of a working dairy farm which lies on the hills north-west of the market town of Barnstaple.
Shippen and Carpenters Cottages are detached self-catering holiday cottages which have been converted to an exceptionally high standard of comfort and detail.
Beautifully decorated and furnished, the cottages have been designed to retain many of the interesting farm features, with beamed ceilings and stable doors.
Situated down a country lane within eight acres of farmland, the self catering cottages overlook the picturesque Bradiford Valley, and are within easy reach of the wonderful sandy beaches at Saunton Sands, Croyde, Putsborough Sands and Woolacombe. The dramatic North Devon coastline and Exmoor National Park are also within easy driving distance.
The cottages can be booked separately or as a pair (to sleep 9) as they are located at each end of the paddock, in which there is a formal play area for both cottages and plenty of space to play games.
Free membership of the local leisure club one mile away and a complimentary car park pass for the owner’s car park at Downend, Croyde, help to provide a truly magical North Devon holiday - the perfect opportunity to escape and unwind.
The Shippen was formerly the cowshed of Humes Farm. This delightfully spacious and charming barn conversion sleeps 5 and is open plan, with the living room at one end and the kitchen/dining area at the other. The character of the ground floor is further enhanced with exposed beams, French doors leading onto the patio and a stable door which is the main access to the cottage.
Upstairs, the three attractive bedrooms all have fitted wardrobes,
comfortable mattresses and Velux windows with blinds. The family bathroom is
adjacent to the bedrooms and has a separate shower. The secure garden has metal
entrance gates and two other farm gates which access the paddock and play area,
where there is plenty of space to entertain children.

Carpenters Cottage this converted cottage which sleeps 4 was formerly a pig sty and workshop for the farm. It is a single storey bungalow style cottage tastefully furnished and with stunning views of the Bradiford Valley from the garden. The living room with exposed beams overlooks the garden and orchard, and has a special charm and a feeling of homeliness. Two steps with handrails lead down to the spacious and well equipped kitchen/dining room and a door to the garden.
The two attractive bedrooms are down the passage leading off the living room, the double with an en-suite bathroom and the twin with its own adjacent shower room. Outside, the patio with garden furniture and access to the play area give that extra touch of comfort and privacy to relax with a glass of wine on a summer’s evening.
