Country Ways is lucky to be in a region with so much to do with Exmoor to the north and Dartmoor to the south. . The beaches are also all very different with the lovely rocky cove and cliffs to the north and the long sandy surfing beaches to the west of us. There are also interesting wildlife beaches such as Crow point (pictured on the right)

There is plenty of activities to suit everyone. Riding - Golf - Walking - Surfing - Cycling - Other Activities

However it may be that a wander around the harbour at Lynmouth or along the cobbled streets of Appledore is more your style. Strolling down the narrow streets of Clovelly is also very popular with our guests, although walking back up the steep hill is not always treated with such enthusiasm.

Children always love the sea and surfing lessons are available at Croyde. If the weathers bad you can use Cascades, the indoor adventure pool at Croyde, or go to one of the many visitor attractions such as the Milky Way Adventure Park or the Big Sheep near Bideford. For adult visitors to north Devon there are also top quality places to visit - Rosemoor Gardens, Arlington Court, Tapeley Park to name but a few.

The self catering accommodation is in converted barns on our 40 acre farm. The farm is nestled on the edge of a valley with wonderful views of the Devonshire Dales. In the fields you will find our herd of small Dexter cattle. These are dual purpose cattle used for both milk and beef.

Around the farm there are usually animals to be seen - Dexter cattle, sheep, ducks and chickens. Children love the horses and everyone adores the Rare Breed Pigs, which are often running around the yard.

The whole area is incredible peaceful and best enjoyed sitting on the swinging bench in the gardens over looking the surrounding countryside. There are also barbecues in the gardens for those warm summer evenings.

In the valley we have 14 acres of ancient woodland with paths running through it and a small river at the bottom. Even in winter with no leaves on the tree it is still very beautiful.

Country Ways holiday cottages are lucky to be in a region with so much to do. Those active souls amongst you might like to hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail which is only a few miles from us.

Others may prefer water sports, golf, walking, fishing or riding, all of which are well catered for in the area.

However it may be that a wander around the harbour at Lynmouth or along the cobbled streets of Appledore is more your idea of relaxing. Strolling down the narrow streets of Clovelly is also very popular with holiday visitors, although walking back up is not always treated with such relish.

Children always love the beaches, but if the weathers bad you can use Cascades, the indoor adventure pool at Croyde, or go to one of the many tourist attractions such as the Milky Way Adventure Park near Bideford. For "grown-up" visitors to north Devon there are also top quality places to visit - Rosemoor Gardens, Arlington Court, Tapeley Park to name but a few.

There is also a wealth of small craft outlets and twice a week, Barnstaple's famous Pannier Market also specialises in craft goods.

For evening enjoyment there are some lovely country pubs and Barnstaple itself, is a lively town with bars, nightclubs, a cinema, theatre and superbowl.

Spring, summer, autumn, winter - holiday or short break - make north Devon your west country destination.
