Relax in one of our self catering Peak District cottages, accommodation in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District National Park.
Situated near to Bakewell, Chatsworth House and historic Haddon Hall we are one of the places to stay in the Peak District. We are no longer a working farm (although we still have cattle grazing in our Peak District meadows in summer and sheep in the winter) and now provide a variety of self contained self catering holiday cottage accommodation. Set in a courtyard surrounded by spectacular Peak District views over open fields and the rolling Peak District countryside yet only two miles from Bakewell.
Our Peak District Cottages are a peaceful haven that enjoy magnificent views towards one of the peak district's treasures - Lathkill Dale and open peak district countryside but are only a few miles from the market town of Bakewell. Our Peak District Holiday cottages have been created from the sympathetic and tasteful conversion of the original Derbyshire farm buildings . The character of the original Peak District buildings has been preserved, with the accommodation having been decorated, furnished and equipped to a high standard.
Please note that due to our setting there are a number of steps up to some of our peak district cottages that the less mobile may find difficult. We do however have a number of Peak cottages that are suitable for the less mobile. Please call for further information
Our 8 Peak District holiday cottages have been converted from the old farm buildings preserving the original character but fitted out for today's living. Each cottage has been equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, colour TV, Freeview, DVD, broadband internet access, heating, baths and showers (smallest two cottages have showers only) etc.
The cottages are self contained and in general comprise of living/dining/kitchen area (larger cottages have partitioned kitchens), bedrooms and a bathroom. All cottages have their own patio area and access to our extensive grounds and general seating areas. Ample car parking is provided for guest's use.
Linen and tea towels are provided but please bring hand and bath towels with you (these are provided for overseas guests).
All our self catering cottages are heated by Oil fired Central Heating with individual controls in each cottage and on each radiator. In addition one of our cottages has a log burning stoves. 'Reasonable' fuel costs (electricity oil) are now included within our prices (rather than the traditional method of collecting a 'fuel supplement' upon departure)
To enable guests to keep in touch with friends and family, check the Internet etc we have installed (in the leisure area) a guest PC with Broadband Internet access. For the convenience and comfort of laptop users (or people wishing to bring their own PC) we have installed a site wireless internet (Wi-Fi) and each Holiday cottage is equipped with a 10/100Mbps Internet Access Points (RJ45 Ethernet connection).
In addition to the facilities within the Holiday cottages there is a table tennis, pool table, table football, Internet PC and a sauna.
Due to the ever increasing demand for non smoking Holiday cottages and a number of requests from our guests, we have now instigated a "No Smoking" Policy within the cottages. All our Peak district cottages have convenient cigarette butt containers outside the cottage door.
We took over the Bolehill Farm Peak District cottages from the previous owners in the middle of November 2003. As regular users of holiday cottages for many years we hoped to draw on this experience to provide the service and facilities today's guests expect.
Bolehill, once a working farm, has been run as a set of holiday cottages since the mid 80's. The barns were converted to holiday cottages from the mid 80's to the early 90's. We now have 8 cottages all with modern living accommodation, easy access to the countryside and a quiet rural setting, providing guests with a tranquil and relaxed setting away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world but only 2 miles from the market town of Bakewell.
In all we have approximately 20 Acres of grounds so there is ample land for guests to enjoy the beautiful countryside, soak up the atmosphere of Bolehill, exercise dogs and for children to play and explore in relative safety.
Guests are free to roam around the grounds at will (except our private gardens) but please ensure that dogs and children do not chase or torment the livestock. The milder climatic conditions of our fields often means the farmer uses them for expectant mothers (cows and sheep) and young cattle. In general the cattle are harmless but often inquisitive and sometimes mischievous, the sheep of course are just sheep and wander around in their own world.
Although many of our guests while away the hours just relaxing in our grounds there are numerous walks from the door including short walks to Over Haddon, Sheldon, Lathkill Dale, Monyash etc. The local amenities of Bakewell are only 5 minutes away where you can stop for an afternoon tea (15 tea shops), browse through the shops, have a peaceful drink in one of the many pubs or just watch the world go by down by the river. The beautiful village of Ashford in the Water is only a few miles away with Chatsworth and Haddon Hall within 15 minutes drive.
The surrounding area is full of sites of historical interest, local customs such as 'well dressing', beautiful countryside, and attractions for the children (Heights of Abraham, Alton Towers, local Donkey Sanctuary etc).
As we live on site we usually meet our guests on arrival and assist them with settling into their cottage and are normally around to help guests with planning their holiday, advising on local attractions or generally providing assistance.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bolehill Farm Holiday Cottages and hope you enjoy your time in the area as much as we enjoy living here.
