If you are looking for somewhere to relax and get away from it all, then Paradise Cottage could be ideal for your holiday. It is also a good base for an activity holiday in North Wales. This is excellent spacious accommodation for two people and ideal for a family of four. Cot, highchair and stair gate also available.

There is ample space to play in the garden and woodland, all within a boundary fence with hedges. Our field opposite also constitutes a good play area with a small stream.

We are situated on the edge of a small village, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside near to Clocaenog Forest, which stretches from here for ten miles through to Llyn Brenig.

The cottage dates back to the 15th century and is a Welsh Long House, the end part of which is the completely self-contained holiday let. The house used to be a tavern on the Pilgrims’ Route between Holywell in the north and St. David’s in the south in mediaeval  times.

As always, our ongoing aim is to warmly welcome all visitors to Paradise!

Although Paradwys is no longer an inn, the cottage itself is comfortable; cool on a hot summer’s day, and cosy even in winter, within its two-foot thick walls. Much of the original timber structure remains with beamed ceilings and walls.
The night storage heaters keep the interior warm with additional electric heating if required.

Downstairs:
The kitchen is well equipped and has all the facilities of a modern home

It is a pleasant airy room with the dining table at one end.
The shower, toilet and washbasin are also downstairs

The sitting room has leather furniture and a log-effect electric stove for extra heat when needed and a stable door to open when the weather is warm.
There is a television with video and also a radio-cassette. On the shelves is a selection of books with lots of information, guide books about the area and suggestions for walks around here, on the Clwyd Hills or in Snowdonia.

Upstairs:
A staircase leads up from the sitting room to the bedrooms, the first of which has a super king-size bed which will split to make twin beds if required. It has an orthopaedic mattress and visitors regularly say that they are reluctant to get up in the morning: others say they had the best nights sleep in a long time, with only the owls to disturb them.

The second bedroom is through a communicating door and is a delightful room with two single beds
This bedroom has an additional toilet and washbasin.

Our cottage is only one mile from a B road which has few cars and leads very quickly to the main sight-seeing centres of North Wales

Ruthin is an attractive market town in the scenic Vale of Clwyd with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops. It is only 10 minutes away and well worth a visit as there is much of interest to see there, including the newly restored Museum in the gaol.
Another mile and you reach the Clwyd Hills for which we have detailed maps and walks along this 25-mile long range and Offa’s Dyke Trail.

This is an area steeped in history from early burial mounds and hill forts to Roman remains, Welsh castles like Dolwyddelan and Edwardian castles such as Conway, Caernarfon, Denbigh, etc.

There is something of interest for all ages and the many footpaths invite you to explore locally from the doorstep or take a short journey in the car from your base in Paradise Cottage.
