Cumbria self catering holiday cottages

Ringhouse cottages, originally built as a farm around 1690, are surrounded by over 3 acres of gardens and meadows. Our 5 cottages are set in the beautiful and unspoiled Woodland Valley close to both Coniston and Broughton-in-Furness and are a perfect place from which to explore the Lake District National Park.

Each Cottage has it’s own individual charm, with amazing views. All cottages are fully equipped, bed linen and towels are provided. The cottages combine original features with modern comforts, we even provide a free internet wireless connection in each cottage.

Ringhouse is a hidden gem which is why people come back year after year. The water even comes from our own spring which we filter and treat to meet all EU standards – it is so lovely we should really bottle it. So that everyone can enjoy the delights of Ringhouse we offer short breaks all year round.

The courtyard provides ample parking for each cottage. Pets are welcome in some cottages and within 5 minutes walk you can be on Latter Rigg Fell, the perfect dog walking paradise. We have written a book for every cottage “Walks from our backdoor” so you can enjoy the fabulous walks in the area without using your car.

Lynda and Stuart Harrison the resident owners are on hand to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.

Directions (from the M6):
Leave the M6 at junction 36 and travel west, following the A590 signs to Barrow. Look out for the left fork to Barrow, 3 miles after leaving motorway. Turn right at Greenodd onto the A5092 (Workington and Coniston signs).

After about 4.5 miles lookout for the sign "Woodland 3 miles" on the right at the top of a big hill. Follow this winding and scenic lane for 3 miles and then turn right over a cattle grid at the bottom of a hill. A further quarter mile is our entrance, on the left just before the church.

An alternative (particularly if there is snow) is to stay on the A5092 until you reach Grizebeck at the bottom of a hill (total of 6 miles from Greenodd). Turn right at the sign "Woodland 2.5 miles" and proceed over 2 cattle grids until you reach Woodland Church.
