Cumbria self catering holiday cottages

Hall Hills, with its tastefully designed 4-star and 5-star self-catering cottages close to the Lake District, has been awarded the titles Self-Catering Holiday Of The Year for Cumbria and Self-Catering Holiday Of The Year for the North-West of England, 2009.

There are five self-catering cottages, recently converted from a cluster of 17th century stone barns, each with a unique style and character, emphasizing good taste, luxury and comfort, and preserving their rustic atmosphere.

Their location in a charming part of the Eden Valley in east Cumbria makes them an ideal base for a self-catering holiday with easy access to the Lake District and to numerous picturesque Cumbrian towns and villages such as Caldbeck, Dalston and Heskett. The historic city of Carlisle - Cumbria's capital - is very close and the Scottish Borders and Hadrian's Wall are only a short drive away.

An undeniable advantage of the location is its tranquillity. From your private patio, as you sip your aperitif, you can look down at the little stone bridge and the murmuring River Roe and across the vast expanse of rolling Cumbrian countryside. As you sit late into the evening, warmed by the patio heater if need be, you will hear only birdsong, certainly none of the high-season bustle of the more well-known Lake District resorts - an ideal way to get away from it all and unwind, especially for those wanting a quiet romantic break.

The self-catering cottages are set around an elegant courtyard with ample parking. And you are sure of a friendly welcome at Hall Hills, together with a hamper with a taste of local produce.

Yan - A conversion of a 17th century grain store provides stylish self-catering accommodation for four

A welcome hamper awaits you in the open plan living and dining area, which leads directly onto your patio with its uninterrupted views across the Cumbrian countryside.

Upstairs the bedrooms share the bathroom that has both a bath and a power shower together with an integrated sound system for you to enjoy while you relax!

Tan - a magnificent conversion of a granary retaining rustic character and charm

Tan welcomes you through its impressive and sunny arched entrance.

A welcome gift sits alongside the Belfast sink in the traditional farmhouse kitchen.

This self-catering accommodation benefits from a ground floor bedroom leading onto the generous patio, and the stunning king-size bed upstairs. The elegant bathroom has both bath and power shower.

Tethera - cross the threshold into a home with charm, style and comfort

Enter the spacious living room and pass into the kitchen area which is well-equipped to provide all the convenience of self-catering. Then step out onto your large patio and take in the view.

Tethera has the luxury of a downstairs bedroom and shower room. Upstairs there is a more than ample king-size bed, a contemporary bathroom with his 'n' hers basins and a double ended bath.

The Folly - One flight of steps takes you to the balcony overlooking the river Roe. Then through the double doors you enter a very spacious interior that is as individual as its name implies. The Folly is a self-catering holiday home with a difference.

The open-plan living area is flooded with light during the day streaming through skylights between the massive exposed beams of the roof that complement the solid oak floor.

Past the kitchen area and through the oak door is the bedroom with its king size bed and a walk-in shower.

Methera - spacious one-storey accommodation for four

Methera overlooks the River Roe and has a large living area with French windows that let the light flood in. One king-size bedroom has its own en-suite shower room and WC while the twin bedded room can be converted into a second king-size.

The bathroom has both a bath and a power shower and the kitchen area is stylish and well-equipped. Methera is WiFi enabled. Outside it has its own seating area with uninterrupted views over the river to the woods and fields beyond.
