Located on a working farm in Weardale, Yeka Byre Holiday Cottage is a short drive from the historic cathedral city of Durham and is a one hour drive to the North Yorkshire Moors, the Northumberland Coast or the Lake District making it a perfect base to visit the North of England.
Woodcroft Farm, farmed by the Peart family since 1947, is a traditional hill livestock farm with a beef suckler herd and hill sheep. Farming life is always busy, so which ever time of year you decide to visit our holiday cottage, there will be plenty to see.
There are local shops and excellent dining pubs within ½ mile and there is a steam railway 1 mile away in the village of Stanhope. The perfect holiday cottage for both couples & families whether you want to relax & unwind, go walking, cycling or touring the area.
County Durham is one of England’s most northerly counties with a rich and varied heritage and some of the most impressive scenery can be seen in the Durham Dales. Our self catering holiday cottage is located in Weardale one of the Northern Durham Dales.
The Cottage is tastefully renovated and has open beams in the living area, electric log stove effect fireplace, flat screen TV, high volted ceilings and windows to all aspects. The cottage is light and feels spacious.
Yeka Cottage is all on one floor and comprises open plan living, dining and kitchen. Fully fitted modern kitchen, includes fridge/freezer, oven & hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave. Two bedrooms, one double one twin with optional childs cot to accommodate a toddler. There is a second TV with DVD and video player in the twin room. Family bathroom, fully tiled with under floor heating, with large bath and overhead shower. Full central heating throughout, individually controlled in each room. Prices include heating, electricity, linen and towels. The cottage is non-smoking.
Yeka Cottage has a private walled garden with lawn, rockery and patio area. A bbq and garden furniture are provided. There is ample parking for two cars. We do not allow pets.
Enjoying stunning views over moorland from its peaceful and private position, Yeka Byre Cottage offers a luxurious, peaceful & romantic retreat. We have converted a traditional sheep byre into a beautiful country holiday cottage, away from the bustle of the town. Our Weardale Cottage is designed to comfortably accommodate 4 adults, there is a cot available to sleep a third child (toddler) which makes it available to a family of five.
The cottage can be seen on many old maps and we believe it dates back over 300 years. Woodcroft Farm holds a place in the areas heritage, with history dating back to early 1300, and being the ancestral home of the Blackett family.
The North Pennines have been designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty", with spectacular walks including the Weardale Way which passes through our farm and the Pennine Way which is within easy reach.
The village of Stanhope has good everyday shopping together with pubs and cafes serving good food. There is a Farmers Market in Stanhope on the last Saturday of the month.
