Relax and unwind in comfort in one of our eleven self-catering holiday cottages situated on our spacious complex, on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Marhamchurch. All cottages offer spectacular sea views across open countryside to Widemouth Bay and Bude.
Romantic barn conversions for couples, larger properties perfect for families. All are have access to our communal play area with trampoline and swings.
Situated just two miles from the popular seaside town of Bude, North Cornwall, with its variety of quality restaurants, pubs and shops. Just a few minutes walk to the local pub/restaurant.
The renowned surfing coast of North Cornwall has superb beaches, rolling countryside and beautiful towns and villages. The rugged coastline is dotted with tiny coves and shallow bays. There is also a wide range of activities that can be enjoyed in the area.
Wooldown House was originally a full board guest house, bought in 1934 by Roger's Mum and Dad. Cyder Cottage was bought in 1937. In the early 1940's Sunny Corner was also purchased. Wooldown was changed into self catering in 1972. Roger and Susan took over the business when they got married in 1974.
Since then, there has been many changes, the Woolbarn was converted in 1998, and the three barns (The Olde Coach House, Wagoners, Stable Barn) were converted in 2001. Sunny Corner has been completely refurbished in May 2006. The Woolbarn was refurbished in April 2007. Wooldown Farmhouse has now been refurbished in April 2008.
After 18 months of building work, the five brand new luxury barns just for couples was completed on the 8th August 2008.
We know how important your holiday is, we go on holiday too (occasionally!), and we all worry about what to expect, that's why we work hard to make sure our property won't let you down.
Cornwall is blessed with spectacular coastlines and countryside. All cottages are situated on our spacious complex, on the outskirts of the village of Marhamchurch. The village has a small shop and Post Office for all the essentials, as well as a very good family friendly pub and restaurant serving evening meals and Sunday Carverey's. Both are just a short 10 minute stroll from all our cottages.
The idyllic, seaside town of Bude is extremely popular year round is just 2 miles from Wooldown. It has a good selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs.
There are a variety of events held in Bude throughout the year, such as Bude Carnival and Bude Jazz Festival.
There are seven main beaches all within a few miles of Wooldown Farm including Widemouth Bay renowned for its good surf, and Summerleaze and Crooklets on the edge of Bude.
Padstow and Rock (50 minutes drive approx) famous for their fishing and beauty are nearby as are historic Boscastle and Tintagel (25 minutes drive approx) with quaint villages such as Trebarwith Strand. Travelling north you come to Welcombe Mouth, the picture postcard village of Clovelly (30 minutes drive approx). Inland are the moors, Jamaica Inn, Bodmin (50 minutes drive approx), and across to Plymouth , Falmouth, Fowey (75 minutes drive approx) and so many other interesting and welcoming locations to suit all interests and tastes.

'Splash' swimming pool in Bude and 'Harlequins' leisure (just opposite) has 10 ten pin bowling lanes and one of the biggest indoor childrens adventure play areas in the South West perfect for a rainy day.
Approx 30 minutes away (drive) is The Milky Way Adventure Park, with live shows, slides and rides, more information: The Milky Way, there are many other adventure parks in Cornwall which you will find out about in the information pack provided at the start of your holiday.
Surfing
There are at least seven surf beaches to choose from within 5 miles
from Wooldown Farm. If you have never surfed before, there are several very good
surf schools in Bude,

Walks
Cornwall has 300 miles of coastal footpath, which forms part of the
South West Coast Path. A very popular route is to take the foot path along the
old canal into Bude.
The South West Coast Path website shows the route, if you click on the link below a page will display with a route in the area. If you click on the map you will see our location, in the bottom right corner with the name 'Wooldown'.
Cycling
North Cornwall has some great cycling coastal routes. The coastline is
the highest in Cornwall, offering spectacular views. There are a great variety
of routes to enjoy from idyllic rural routes, family routes to challenging off
road routes. You could bring your own bikes, or you can hire them in at Bude (2
miles away). You can also cycle the popular old canal into Bude.
Golfing
There are several golf courses in the area such as Holsworthy,
Trethorne and Launceston. The closest is the Bude & North Cornwall Golf Club
which is located in the centre of Bude surrounded by the town, coast and
countryside. Another very good golf course is Ivyleaf, which is open 7 days a
week and no booking is required.
Water sports
North Cornwall is the ideal place for a range of water sports whether
its out at sea or at the Tamar Lakes (approx 20 minute drive away) where the
water sports centre at the Upper Tamar offers sailing, windsurfing and kayaking
for individuals, families and groups. Visitors can benefit from tuition from
their qualified instructors and also hire equipment.
Fishing
In Cornwall you are never far away from river, sea or still water. The
Tamar Lakes (approx 20 minute drive away) can be enjoyed by coarse anglers where
permits are available from the permit kiosk on site at the Upper Tamar.
