Ivyleaf Barton Cottages, Bude, Cornwall
Ivyleaf Barton self catering Cottages in Cornwall are well equipped and sleep between 2 and 8 people. They are rated overall 4 stars by English Tourist Board, with specific cottages rated between 2 and 5 stars. They are available all year round and some take pets by arrangement. Prices include bed linen and electricity.
All the cottages have both TV/Video and CD/Radio players. Guests have the use of an all weather tennis court and the cottages are adjacent to a 9 hole golf course/driving range/mountain board slope.
The Cottages are located in an exclusive residential area with lawned areas making an ideal safe location for families, approximately 2 miles north of Bude. They enjoy an elevated position with stunning views over both the coast towards Bude Bay and in the distance to Trevose Head and also the north Cornish countryside to Bodmin.
The well known surfing beaches at Sandymouth Bay & Summerlease beach are both ten minutes drive away.
We have seven self catering cottages, including Ivyleaf Barton house itself. Details of each are as follows:
Linhay and Byre are single storey cottages rated 4 star sleeping 2 in a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. They are grouped around the courtyard where they have a private area for sitting out and BBQs.
Barn and Mill are 2 storey cottages sleeping 4, both have a double bedroom while Barn has a pair of full size bunk beds and Mill has a twin bedded room. The kitchens are well equipped and include a dishwasher and microwave in addition to the full size cooker.
Granary is again a 2 storey cottage sleeping 7 in two double bedrooms and a triple bedded room. Again the kitchen area is as well equipped as Barn and Mill. There is a second TV in the triple room.
Stables is a single storey cottage sleeping 7 in two double bedrooms and a triple bedded room. Again this bedroom has an extra TV. Stables has wide access doors and this makes it ideal for guests wanting to be on a single level.
Ivyleaf Barton itself is the main house and sleeps 8 in 5 star luxury. There are two king sized bedrooms (one en-suite) and two twin bedded rooms, a family bathroom and separate cloakroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern dual fuel range cooker, separate fridge and freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is a separate dining room and lounge on the upper level. The lounge has views over the countryside to the far distance and TV video with a Digital Freeview box for additional TV channels.
Courtside is a modern luxury cottage sleeping 3-4 people on 2 floors with a contemporary feel with black leather sofas and dining chairs, again a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer/dryer. The fully tiled shower room is also on the ground floor. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a bedroom with single bed and pull out secondary bed. These bedrooms have been converted from a loft space and have velux windows and some restricted headroom.
General
All cottages have a patio and BBQ area (BBQ's provided free of charge).
Ivyleaf Hill is an exclusive residential area approximately two miles north
of Bude located just off the A39 Atlantic Highway. It is an elevated position
with stunning views over both the coast towards Bude Bay and in the distance to
Trevose head and also the North Cornish Countryside towards Bodmin.
The National Trust beach at Sandymouth is approx 3-4 miles distant. Guests at
Ivyleaf Barton Cottages enjoy free use of a newly re-surfaced
all weather full size tennis court with addition of a basket-ball hoop for
shooting practice. There are some rackets and balls available for use if your
have forgotten your own equipment.
There is a privately owned 9 hole golf course and driving range where Ivyleaf
guests enjoy a special weekly rate and have a private access gate. The par 33
course starts from just in front of cottages Barn Mill Granary
and Stables so there are few excuses not to get a round in
before breakfast.
The Golf course owners have opened a new Mountain boarding slope where boards and tuition are available. The village of Kilkhampton is just over a mile away and boasts two excellent pubs serving food, two local shops, a butchers, post office and bakery.
To the north is the historic cliff side village of Clovelly (approximately 10
miles along the coast) en route to Bideford/Barnstaple (approx ˝ hour drive to
the north) and Bodmin/Camelford ˝ hour on the way southwards towards the Eden
Project at St Austell, just over an hour's drive away. Brocklands Adventure Park
for children is located here.
Bude itself is approx 5-10 minutes away by car and has a major Safeway
supermarket on the outskirts. It is open until 9pm in the summer months and has
a petrol station, dry cleaning and a café on site. Sandymouth Bay (National
Trust car park) also affords a good base for accessing the South West Coastal
Path.
Surfing is enjoyed at most of the Bude beaches of Widemouth, Summerleaze, Crooklets and Sandymouth Bay. Locally based tuition can be arranged for watersports in addition to other activities such as horse riding and archery.

Retail therapy is not only available locally in Kilkampton and Bude but slightly further afield (30 minutes' drive) at the factory/designer outlet complex of Atlantic Village.
Bude has a number of good restaurants in addition to the numerous pubs and hotels in the area. Worthy of note are Scrummies, Life's a Beach, Hawkers (at the Camelot Hotel) and the St Georges Grill at the Brendon Arms. Padstow and the award winning Rick Stein restaurants are a bit further south.
The Trust owned Lundy Island can be accessed by ferry from Bideford as well as fishing trips from Clovelly Harbour. Cycling on The Camel trail and inland water sports at the Tamar Lakes (5-6 miles) are worthy of visits.
