Ivy House was the first stone built house and shop to be constructed in Colwyn Bay. Built next to a turnpike in 1865 by Thomas Hughs, a farmer from Llanrwst, he chose the name "Ivy House" as this was the English translation of his boyhood home "Plas Eiddew". In the early days the property was used as a dwelling, a shop and was even used to hold religious meetings in the large kitchen, until a more suitable site was found in 1871. Ivy House Self Catering Colwyn Bay was refurbished to a high standard in 2001.

Ivy House is situated in the heart of the stunning North Wales town of Colwyn Bay. Colwyn Bay is a small but expanding town with a large number of attractions and amenities. The flats are situated in the Centre  of the town within walking distance of the main bus route, to the surrounding area, and the railway station. It is also a two minute drive from the A55 (The main artery through North Wales). Whether your travelling by car, train or bus there is always something to do in Colwyn Bay and the surrounding area. You could do some shopping in Llandudno (15 mins by bus, train or car) or go for a walk in the Snowdonia valleys.
