Chipley Mill Cottages are two cottages, called River View and Mill Wheel, which each sleep six in comfort. They have been converted from a grade two listed mill building, complete with water wheel and over-shot leat. River View has a large arched window looking out across the garden towards the river. Mill Wheel has the water wheel at the back. Although the wheel no longer operates, it is nonetheless a fascinating and interesting feature of the property

The cottages are immaculately presented and provide a high standard of warm and comfortable accommodation. Downstairs is spacious and open-plan, with large timber beams providing lots of character. Both cottages are fully carpeted, centrally heated and well furnished with comfortable seating, colour remote control television with teletext, a video player and radio/cassette player. Kitchens are equipped with electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, food processor, an excellent selection of kitchen equipment - and all usual sundries including tea towels. The three bedrooms are predominantly furnished in pine with pretty co-coordinating soft furnishings. Master bedrooms have king size four-poster beds, whilst the other two are twin bedded. There are duvets on the beds and we provide all bed linen (except for cots). Each bathroom comprises bath with shower, washbasin and toilet. There is also a separate toilet with washbasin to avoid queues in the mornings! We have endeavored to supply all the little extras which we feel make our cottages more a ‘home from home’ rather than holiday homes. There is a shared laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Cots, highchairs and stair gates can be provided. Towels are not provided but are available for hire if desired. We welcome children but regret we cannot accommodate pets. We also have a non-smoking policy in our cottages.

A large garden, which leads down to the River Lemon, has a trellised seating area to enjoy the valley view, picnic table and children’s play equipment. A gas barbecue is available on request for al fresco dining! Several pairs of ducks nest along our stretch of river and herons can frequently be seen fishing for brown trout as you stroll along the river bank - we have fishing rights if you like the idea of a spot of fishing! In all, our grounds extend to approximately 12 acres, including a large separate children’s play area, so there is plenty to explore. About half a mile up the road from us is the Dartmoor Halfway Inn which is well-known for its extensive all day menu if you fancy a break from self-catering. One mile in the other direction is a golf driving range with a nine hole course

Located off the A383 between the market towns of Newton Abbot and Ashburton means we are ideally situated for easy access to the numerous local attractions, as well as touring further afield. The closest —beach is 7 miles away and beautiful Dartmoor is within 4 miles. The lovely city of Exeter is 13 miles away, Plymouth -28 miles and a short drive takes you to the English Riviera of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham
