Welcome to Melbourne, a spacious Georgian town house oozing with charm and character in the stylish town of Aberaeron in Ceredigion on the west Wales coast. Our Visit Wales 5 star graded property offers quality self-catering holiday accommodation for up to six people and is centrally located close to Aberaeron's picturesque harbour with a good range of shops, excellent pubs and restaurants nearby.
Aberaeron is located on the A487, mid way between the university town of Aberystwyth to the north and Cardigan in the south and is well placed for Ceredigion's beaches, mountains and countryside and central for day trips to all parts of Wales.
Ceredigion's stunning heritage coastline with its International Blue Flag, Green Coast and Seaside Award winning beaches, coastal paths and the superb marine wildlife of Cardigan Bay - bottlenose dolphins, seals and birdlife - are just minutes away. Inland, the National Trust's Llanerchaeron mansion is only a short walk away through the beautiful Aeron valley.
Gentle country walks or strenuous mountain hikes - Ceredigion has it all. The Ceredigion coast path is literally a five minute walk away from Melbourne's front door - head north towards Aberystwyth or south to the seaside towns and villages of New Quay, Tresaith or Aberporth and catch the bus back home.
Bring your bikes and explore quiet country lanes or try the mountain bike trails at Nant yr Arian. Anglers will find some of the best fishing rivers in Wales and boat trips out to Cardigan Bay. Aberaeron has a leisure centre, swimming pool and tennis courts and there's an 18 hole golf course nearby at Llanrhystud.
Melbourne welcomed its first guests in 2005 - refurbished in a blend of traditional and contemporary styles - a comfortable, relaxing base which has proved popular with our guests - many are now regular visitors and feel truly at home.
We have three light, airy bedrooms, each one tastefully decorated and traditionally furnished with comfortable beds and quality bed linen. There are two double rooms - one on the first floor with a king size bed, television and en-suite facilities - the other is located on the ground floor making it ideal for the less mobile. The pretty twin room is on the first floor. Beds are always made up awaiting our guests' arrival.
Melbourne's bright, spacious bathroom with bath, separate shower and heated towel rail, is on the first floor and there's a shower room and toilet on the ground floor. Freshly laundered towels and soap are provided for each guest.
The stylish, yet cosy sitting room displays many of Melbourne's original features - large windows, a traditional fireplace, paintings of local landmarks, lots of pretty china and even a few antiques. There's a large screen television, DVD player, hi-fi and a good range of books to suit most tastes and ages. The separate dining area leads on to a sunny conservatory adjoining the kitchen and opening out on to the private rear garden.
The modern kitchen and separate utility room are fitted with an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier and a good range of kitchen utensils. Our welcome pack of local produce is always well received.
The private, flower filled rear garden is the perfect spot for a barbecue or quiet drink and doubles as a safe, secure play area for children. The garage has plenty of storage space for bicycles and other equipment.
Well behaved children of all ages are always welcome at Melbourne - we have a cot and high chair and provide children's cutlery and crockery, DVDs, books and toys.
