The Oaks are cottages within the Bylaugh Estate, thus one has the use of the facilities at Bylaugh Hall (restaurant, bar etc).
Their gardens look over and across the beautiful Wensum river valley…
Locally there are woodlands, miles of country walks and cosy pubs.
The
famous North Norfolk coast is just 20 minutes away, making the Oaks a perfect
base from which to explore
There are two cottages, one sleeps up to five people the other sleeps 6.
One may take both properties for large groups.
The Oaks combined can accommodate up to 11 people.
The beautiful large Mews has been converted from the hub of the working hall. One enters through a very large front door to a spacious and lofty interior with a myriad of rooms giving seclusion yet accessibility to anyone using this wonderful property.
The kitchen and living room are from one of the original great kitchens to the hall, and sport the only stone fireplace to have survived intact. One group of 3 ensuite bedrooms included the original butlers bedroom and an outside safe rooftop patio surrounded by a high wall. Another of the bedrooms is partly glazed (it was the head housekeepers office) and is much loved by children (and their parents who can keep an eye on them sleeping).
This property has a total of 9 bedrooms and sleeps up to 20 persons in comfort. It is secluded in its own courtyard area, tucked into the east side of the hall.
The Smithy
5 bedrooms including ground floor suitable for disabled, 2 family rooms,
double room and 2 twin rooms. It has a spacious open plan kitchen/dinning room/
lounge area with an open fire.
This house will give you the freedom of a self-catering holiday with all the
comforts of home. Stay and enjoy the comforts within, or get out and explore
Bylaugh Hall stables have been converted into a residence full of character with 5 ensuite bedrooms sleeping up to 13 people. Every aspect of this house has been carefully thought through, making one feel at home from the moment you arrive.
There is ample room for thirteen or more to eat and relax together, with a well equipped large kitchen to feed everyone.
At every season, and no matter the weather, the stables is a great place to base your holiday.
The Manor
This house has a spectacular 360 degree view across the entire unspoiled Wensum
valley to the South, and back toward
It is set alone on top of its own small hill, and looks across and back towards Bylaugh hall, which is close enough to enjoy the facilities that go on within the hall. There is plenty of parking and several acres within the curtilege to enjoy privately.
There are 7 bedrooms to sleep 15 comfortably, yet extra beds can be added. A cot is available on early request.
Front Mews
With a beautifully restored facade and a newly re-fitted interior, this elegant
house is ready to welcome you for a restful holiday. The house has room for
adults to unwind and for children to play.
This attractive building has five bedrooms and a large high ceilinged living room reminding one of the French Empire style. It sleeps 11 in two double two twin rooms and a family room with king and single. The fitted kitchen is in white, with a south facing window from the upper floor, maisonette style and is adjacent to the very large living room.
The Brewery
This property has been created from the original brewery to the hall, and the
adjacent coach house making a most interesting and exciting space. The original
staircase leads up to the bedrooms which had always been there, now restored and
all ensuite.
The living space incorporates the great arches which made up the Coach house, and their doors have been replaced with French windows looking directly onto the quadrangle.
The downstairs bedroom is ensuite and includes disabled use if required.
Cots are available, the house sleeps from 11 to 15 people.
The Coachmans
A pretty detached period house in the same style as all the estate homes.
Children and Adults love this location; there is plenty of room to roam and play
beyond the secluded garden...
The Coachman’s Lodge has 5 bedrooms with 4 bath or shower rooms. The bedrooms
are arranged as 3 double rooms, and 2 twin rooms. Kitchen and dining room with
French doors leading onto the garden and an arch which
leads through to a most pleasant sun lounge.
The Orangery is a wonderful building, classical in style and built in
Ansen stone.
It now has 7 ensuite bedrooms and one additional twin room. It sleeps 16 persons
plus a sofa bed and 2 spare beds if required allowing 20 people to enjoy
this fantastic space.
They are arranged as 7 king-sized beds, and 3 single beds.
This house is normally only available for Christmas or New Year, or together with special functions or parties that you might wish to book.
