Marlow is one of the prettiest towns along the River Thames and is famous for its suspension bridge, a miniature of the bridge over the Danube in Budapest, Hungary, built by the same architect.
Marlow offers everything you could wish for from a small town, with a wide array of shops, restaurants, and a full range of services from doctors to Yoga teachers.
The town and area boast some of the best sporting facilities in the country with the National Sports centre in Bisham, the River Thames for all things waterborne, the Chilterns for all manner of field sports and country pursuits, and major sporting venues like Henley, Ascot, Twickenham and Wembley all within a 45 minute drive.
An area of outstanding natural beauty The Chilterns is one of the prettiest and most unspoilt parts of Britain. An idyll of rural living, yet just 45 minutes from Central London.
Living at Home Wood the Chilterns are on your doorstep with the pretty villages of Hambleden, Fingest, Frieth and Turville just a short drive. Pubs like the Stag & Huntsman at Hambleden and the Bull & Butcher at Turville are the perfect places for Sunday lunch, a stroll through the blue bell woods, across the hills and meadows.
The Chilterns is the perfect place for horse riding, cycling, shooting, walking and bird watching. A favourite for film producers the Chilterns has been the backdrop to many Hollywood movies and favourite British TV programmes like The Vicar of Dibley and Down to Earth.
The River Thames is the thread that connects the charming towns of Henley, Marlow, Cookham, Bray, Taplow, Eton and Windsor. Its influence shaped the history and prosperity of these towns through the generations. Captured in many books the Upper Thames is perhaps epitomised by the wonderful tale of Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Graeme and Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome.
Today the Upper Thames is used mainly for pleasure with craft of all shapes and sizes taking to the water during the summer months. Each of these towns and villages have their own regatta, but only Henley is a sporting event of international proportions and a scene not to be missed.
The abundance of wildlife, waterfowl, fish and fauna that live along the Thames are a testament to the environmental work to improve this essential habitat.
