Bridge Cottage - Self-catering accommodation

This little holiday cottage offers charming & comfortable accommodation, for up to four people, two minutes walk from the centre of the ancient Wiltshire town, Bradford-on-Avon.

It is a nineteenth century, south-facing, two-storey cottage. Constructed from locally quarried stone, it has many period features, including a panelled hall and an ancient fireplace in the kitchen, yet it has a spacious, light and airy feel. It is provided with all the modern amenities you would expect, including a well-appointed kitchen & bathroom and central heating.

Downstairs, through the entrance hall, are a good sized kitchen & dining room combined and a separate sitting room. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a separate bathroom.

Kitchen/Diner

With polished oak flooring throughout, this room offers a welcoming combination: a modern fully fitted kitchen and spacious dining room with period furniture and original fireplace.

Sitting Room

This cosy room was designed with evenings in mind! Rugs, thick curtains, original window shutters and flame/log effect gas fire – are an invitation to make yourself at home. As well as two comfy sofas and antique furniture, a TV and DVD player are also provided, plus maps games, books and guides for you to borrow.

Bathroom

Neat, bright, immaculate with combined shower/bath, toilet and pedestal sink.

Bedroom One

South facing and sunny, with two windows, twin single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. A subtle blend of modern colour and painted furniture, create calm and comfort.

Bedroom Two

Also south facing, charming period features, furnished with painted period furniture including dressing table, chest, plus wardrobe space.

Upstairs Landing

Sunny and charming with original window seat with roof-scape views. The landing includes generous walk-in storage for luggage, walking gear etc.

Rental Terms

Gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and tea-towels are included in rent. Travel cot and high-chair are available for a small fee. No smoking and, regretfully, no pets.

OUT & ABOUT!

About Bradford on Avon and the surrounding area

From your front door turn right and walk into the centre of the town via the medieval bridge over the River Avon (2 minutes).

From here you can walk by footpath all the way up the hillside to the site of the old Saxon settlement of Budbury, winding along footpaths past ancient buildings many once occupied by the weavers who brought Bradford its wealth. From these paths glimpse stunning views towards the Westbury White Horse on the distant Salisbury Plain! (10-15 minutes each way)

In the other direction, walk out to the old packhorse bridge over the Kenet & Avon Canal (5 minutes) where you can watch barges negotiating the busy lock. This lock-side area is very much Bradford's second centre.

Bradford on Avon: full of history - Roman, Saxon, Medieval, 18th Century wool-trade wealth - it has a thriving and famous antique trade.

Bath: 15 minutes on the train to this world famous Georgian city.

Local National Trust properties: including Lacock Abbey and village, Stourhead and Longleat, with other manors close enough for the more energetic to walk to!

Glastonbury and the cathedral cities of Salisbury and Wells are only an hour away.

Cotswold countryside and architecture just to the North, the Wiltshire & Marlborough downs to the South and the Mendips twenty minutes to the West.

Further afield - but still under an hour & a half away - are the South & West Coasts, Exmoor, The Quantock Hills, the mountains of South Wales and the Wye Valley.
