Windsor Forest Court Apartments. Truly stunning and of historical interest, built in the early 1900s by Sir Henry Waldren, to stable the King’s polo ponies. A gift from the Queen to her son, King Edward V11. The polo stables were converted into 21 apartments some 12 years ago when the surrounding estate was developed into the fine Mill Ride Golf Course. More recently, the apartments have been tastefully renovated to a high luxury standard internally, whilst retaining the beautiful original character of the fine exterior.
This is a peaceful and secure haven within the gated estate of Mill Ride Golf & Country Club. Less that 1 mile from the prestigious Royal Ascot Racecourse and so convenient for the M3, M4 and M25 motorways. There is an excellent, frequent rail service from Ascot Station to London (within an hour), Reading and Guildford. Ascot High Street is a 5 minute drive with all local amenities and plenty of good restaurants, cafés and bars. Within an easy 3 minutes walking distance from the Apartments, there are a few local shops including; post office/newsagent/general store, butcher, a fine Indian restaurant 'Mango' and a Thai/Chinese/take away, as well as a local well stocked Library. Tesco and Waitrose Supermarkets are also easily reached, both some 15 minutes drive away. The two major nearby shopping areas are Windsor, (with the Royal Windsor shopping area within the old Victorian Railway Station) and Reading, where the fabulous 'Oracle' shopping, dining and entertainment Mall can be found.
Windsor Forest Court is approximately 20 minutes drive from both Windsor and Reading and 30 minutes away from London Heathrow Airport (20 minutes from the British Airways Terminal 5). In just 45 minutes you can be right in the very centre of London's West End.
Designed by Donald Steel and one of the top 100
golf courses in the world, Mill Ride Golf & Country Club is a gem.
Membership level is kept at only 350 members,
it is not overplayed and because of its discreet and select nature this
beautiful championship course is favoured by many familiar faces from the world
of showbiz and sport.
Having a relatively short history as a golf course
(18 years), Mill Ride measures a healthy 6,800 yards and is a test to the
golfer. It has a fine collection of
holes that are so varied that there is no chance whatsoever of becoming bored.
The course is one of the best kept secrets in the land with immaculate fairways
which weave their way past lakes, hillocks and hollows, giving a park like
flavour with a hint of inland links.
“ In comparison
with distinguished neighbours such as Wentworth, Sunning dale, Swindle Forest and
The Berkshire, located in Berkshire/Surrey borders, you could understandably
anticipate others falling someway short, yet there is certainly no
disappointment as you turn into the long tree-lined driveway of Ascot's Mill
Ride Estate.”
