MOOR FARM
700 years of history and charm, combined discreetly with 21st century comforts.
A perfect place to stay.
Run under the personal supervision of resident owners, Carol and Bill Bardo
Archaeological excavations brought to light a 7th century Saxon site on the farm, but the earliest documented reference was in 1270 when John Atte More was the owner. In 1455 it was granted Manor status. The Manor of Mores or Moors still exists in the farmhouse of that name.
The first reference to Holyport was in 1220 when it was an important market town, possibly because of its position on the "Domesday" Road from Windsor to Reading.
Today it is a pretty Conservation village where the focal point is the village green and pond just five minutes walk from the farm. The stocks and the ducking stool have gone but the village pubs take full advantage of their picturesque location.
On Moor Farm, the timber framed buildings, including the original Manor, have been maintained and restored and there is stabling for 20 horses.
Moor Farm is four miles from Windsor and one mile from Maidenhead. It is an ideal base from which to tour and visit London and the South of England. There are regular train services from Maidenhead and Windsor. The centre of London is just half an hour (approx) by train. Shops and public transport are within walking distance.
Courtyard Cottages are converted from attractive barns and a Georgian stable block dating from 1780 to form self catering accommodation. The conversions have been carefully carried out to retain the original character of these charming buildings, both inside and out. They are furnished with antique pine and country fabrics.
The two bedroom cottages sleep up to four people (one double and one twin). They both have a sitting room with dining area, well fitted kitchens with cooker, fridge, washing machine, microwave and spacious bathrooms. One of the cottages has 3' beds in the twin room and the other has 2'6" beds suitable for children.
There are two one bedroom ground floor cottages, with a 4'6" double bed, a spacious lounge/diner and a kitchen and bathroom. A tumble dryer is available on site. The cottages, all with central heating, are available on a weekly basis (Saturday to Saturday) and longer lets by arrangement. Arrival time is after 2pm and departure time by 10am.
