London is only 1 hour away by train from Bedford. There is a local bus service to Bedford, but it is not very frequent and so a car enables you to make the most of your stay.

Olney, an attractive market town, is only 5 miles away and has several restaurants and take-away establishments. Nearby Pavenham has a golf course and there is horse riding in the vicinity. Clay pigeon shooting at one of the best layouts in the country can be arranged.

Leisure facilities such as swimming pools, multiplex cinemas, theatres, bowling allies etc are to be found in nearby towns.

Tourist centres such as Oxford, Cambridge and Althorp are all within a short drive; and days out to London, the Cotswolds and the East coast are possible.
